I’ve noticed that some crochet beginners feel a bit lost with all those abbreviations. That’s why I’ve created this quick guide to help you decode those terms and crochet with confidence! 🧶✨

👉 ch (chain): The starting stitch of most projects. Simply yarn over your hook and pull through the loop.
🧵 Example: "Make 10 ch" = Create 10 chain stitches.

👉 st(s) (stitch/es): These are the little loops you create as you crochet.
🧵 Example: "Work 5 sts" = Crochet into the next 5 stitches.

👉 ss (slip stitch): A small joining stitch often used to close rounds or seams. Insert your hook, yarn over, and pull through all loops.
🧵 Example: "Join with a ss" = Use a slip stitch to close your round.

👉 yo (yarn over hook): Wrap the yarn over your hook to prepare for the next step in your stitch.
🧵 Example: "yo and pull through" = Wrap the yarn over and pull it through the loops.

👉 sc (single crochet): Insert your hook, yarn over, pull through (2 loops on hook), yarn over again, and pull through both loops.
