MORE THAN 2 MONTHS 💔

It is truly unfortunate that it has been over two months since we lost our brother, the late Olanrewaju Gabriel Oluwasegun, also known as Success, who passed away in Ghana on March 29th during a boxing bout. To this day, his body has not been repatriated to Nigeria for proper burial arrangements.

Nigerian boxers have made preparations for the arrival of his remains to ensure he receives a proper burial, but sadly, nothing has been done so far. We have not received any update or progress regarding this matter.

The Ghana Minister for Sports and Recreation inaugurated a 7-member committee to investigate the cause of death of the late boxer. On April 2nd, an autopsy was performed on Olanrewaju Segun. The preliminary post-mortem report indicated that he died of sudden cardiac arrest, but further investigation into his heart condition is still ongoing.

As of two weeks ago, the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, in a press release that his body will be fly down to Nigeria. The Nigerian boxing community is still demanding the release of Late Segun’s body, his fight purse, and compensation for his family.

His wife has remained at home for over two months now, unable to go out for work, in observance of Yoruba widowhood traditions which restrict her from public appearances during the mourning period.

The late boxer’s wife is struggling to feed herself and their two children.

Please, we appeal to you—release his body so that his wife can complete the mourning rites and return to work to support her family.

What is causing the delay in releasing his body for burial in Nigeria?

Why has the final report on the cause of his cardiac arrest not been released?

What is holding up the payment of his fight purse and compensation to his grieving family?
