My BabyLingua is dedicated to coaching parents, guardians, or any caretaker in nurturing their child’s first language. By having practical, structured, and intentional back-and-forth interaction with our baby in any given situation in our daily routines, we are shaping our baby's brain, their language development, and their communication development. We are also empowering caretakers with knowledge and security in their parenting, and by default, increasing their connection and bonding. The caretaker is guided in improving their own language behavior at home by communicating more efficiently and effectively with their child, using different types of methods, techniques, and resources in order to aid them in their language process and by applying them in their everyday routines. This guidance is mostly focused on mid pregnancy to children up to three (3) years of age. My BabyLingua takes place in the comfort of your own home, either by visitations in person or by video calls.

My BabyLingua

FINALLY, the day you get to meet your beautiful baby has arrived! ❤️
You are all prepared. You’ve done everything that needs to be done during your pregnancy. You’ve included My BabyLingua suggestions like reading to your baby, playing music and singing, playing multiple games, talking your ear off so he/she can hear language. You’ve done it all and more. You’re ready!

You get to your hospital of choice. They prep it all and you’re all ready to go. Then, you learn that you have to wear a mask once your child is born. Your baby arrives, you’re holding him in your arms, you finally see his little body and face. He slowly opens his eyes and looks for you. He wants to meet that warm voice that he heard for so long. But what does he encounter? Not you in your entirety and in your most natural self. He encounters less than a half of your face - just your eyes and forehead.

Confusion much? Absolutely.
Unnatural? 100%.
Loss of real connection? You bet.

Let me clarify why wearing a mask is a significant mistake when it comes to language, communication, connection and bonding:

* Masks block the baby from seeing your full face, including your mouth and facial expressions, which are important visual cues for early social interaction.
* They reduce visual communication between parent and newborn during those first interactions.
* They make it harder for the baby to associate your voice with your face and mouth movements.
* Masks reduce exposure to facial expressions, which babies naturally use to begin learning emotional and social cues.
* They interfere with imitation of facial movements, including watching mouth movements.
* They make communication feel less natural during those first moments of bonding.
* Masks reduce opportunities for early face-to-face interaction, particularly when the baby is alert and looking at you.
* They make the first meeting feel less personal and emotionally connected for the parent because part of the face is hidden.
* They interfere with the normal visual, auditory, and facial combination babies experience during early parent–infant interaction.
* They remove your natural scent and breath, which is important for recognition, closeness, and connection.

All hospitals have their policies and we can all respect that, but you have a choice. You can find out in advance if this is going to be the case for you. You can always pick a different hospital or birthing location.

Your mental health matters most.
Your child’s mental health matters even more.
