🚨NEW UPLOAD SCHEDULE🚨
In an effort to increase the amount of subscribers who are able to watch new videos in the first few hours after they are released, I'm moving main uploads to FRIDAY nights at 7PM EST.
Hopefully, this will give you (and I) something exciting to look forward too at the end of a hard week at work or school!
Also, after persistent complaints from viewers who haven't been seeing new videos, I have discovered that only about 2.2% of y'all currently have notifications turned on at the moment.
Even if you enabled these in in the past, YouTube does this fun thing where they sometimes turn them back off, so if you have a moment please check and make sure you tap the bell icon and select the "All" option so that you don't miss any new content.
With that being said, I'll see you tomorrow (Friday) night at 7PM for the next episode of The Wild Report, where we'll meet one of the most familiar freshwater turtles in the Southeastern U.S!

The Wild Report
This week's episode of The Wild Report is delayed until tomorrow night at 7PM EST.
While this video is taking way longer to edit than I anticipated, I'm excited to be showcasing three of the most commonly encountered lizard species here in North Carolina backyards!
Be sure to tune in tomorrow night before the fireworks to find out what makes these lizards so special 🦎

Hi there explorers, and welcome to the Amazon!
I'm so thankful to be spending 10 days in this incredible location assisting with research investigating the evolution of snake venoms across the urban-rural gradient.
So far I can confidently say that this is the most wild place I've ever been - there are living things absolutely everywhere you look, including some species that I've dreamed of encountering in the wild since I was a kid.
I'm thrilled to be documenting this research and the amazing wildlife that we encounter along the way!

I graduated!
The past two years of masters school have been challenging but rewarding. I've had the opportunity to learn from incredible faculty, teach some wickedly intelligent students, and still squeeze in a bit of herping on the side.
I'm so thankful to everyone who made my grad school experience so memorable - including you! You all have continued supporting my content and educational mission all throughout this entire process, and I'm so thankful for your encouragement along the way.
Now that I'm officially a master of fisheries, wildlife, and conservation biology, I look forward to finally have more time to invest in content as I continue my career with Wake County Nature Preserves and the NC Museum of Natural Science this summer.
Be on the lookout for an exciting collaboration coming to The Wild Report next Thursday night, featuring some of the coolest invertebrates I've ever encountered!

Hey there explorers, I have exciting news!
You are invited to my masters project defense tomorrow morning at 9AM EST!
Date: 3/4/25
Time: 9:00 AM
Location: ncsu.zoom.us/j/4824861796
Title: HerpetologyMe: Building Environmental Agency Using Herpetology
If you've never attended a masters defense and are interested in grad school, think the curriculum might be useful to you or someone you know, or are just interested in learning more about this project, I'd love to see you there.
The format is a 20ish minute presentation followed by a QnA session.
Also, you can check out the first video that I created for this curriculum on the channel right now if you haven't had a chance to do so yet. You're feedback is always appreciated.
Hope to see you tomorrow, or in the comments of the videos that accompany this curriculum!

I'm working on a new edit right now, and I can't decide whether or not to put background music during the animal presentation segments.
I've received comments both in favor of and opposing music during presentation segments in the past, and am curious to see if there is an overwhelming consensus among the community one way or the other.
Let me know your thoughts and I'll take this information into consideration moving forward!

Hi there explorers, no video this week!
I'm in a grading frenzy right now (midterms and projects galore) and want to give this episode a little more time to cook. Also, now it becomes a spooky Halloween upload, which is perfect for the theme of this video.
I look forward to seeing y'all on Hallowen night on our next adventure!
