Here, you will hear restored and cleaned recordings from albums in my collection and others. This channel features the budget labels' releases from or before the 1980s, Seeburg background music, and miscellaneous 16 2/3 rpm records.
Please note that these come from used records. Also, since most of the source material uploaded here is often from cheap budget releases, budget labels usually had low-quality control standards. Thus, some of these records have defects that my software cannot handle.
I want to note that before April 2012, I didn't upload videos like the ones mentioned above, and most videos before that were not cleaned up; many were not even direct recordings and, as a result, may sound inferior to the uploads after that date.

Pro tip: Check before you post.
My biggest piece of advice for YouTubers who share vintage records is simple: look before you upload. Search YouTube to see whether someone has already posted the album (consider doing this on Discogs so you can add anything you find to the release page and others can see it quickly). I keep running into the same albums uploaded over and over while countless others haven't been digitized at all. If nobody else has it up, your upload is less likely to get blocked, and you're giving listeners something they've never heard online.
Know what you're actually risking. Let's be honest: technically, uploading someone else's recording infringes their rights. In practice, it's a gray area because many rights holders choose to tolerate it. When YouTube's Content ID matches your upload, the rights holder decides what happens. They can claim the ad revenue, block the video in some or all regions, or track it. A claim is not the same as a copyright strike. Strikes come from manual takedown requests and count against your channel, so you really want to avoid them.
Big labels: tread carefully. If a record is on a major label like Decca, London, Parlophone, Capitol, Columbia, RCA Victor, or EMI, it's likely already been digitized and is actively monitored. These companies have the budget to manage their back catalogs, and they block for two reasons. The first is economics: a YouTube view is one diverted from Spotify or another platform that pays them royalties directly. The second is brand control. Major labels and their artists want a say in who uses their music and where, because they don't want a song tied to something controversial or something the artist would never approve of.
Skip the household names. Prolific, famous artists almost always get blocked. Mantovani is a good example: hugely popular on Decca, with an enormous catalog of easy-listening and background recordings. The same goes for any artist you can name off the top of your head from a given era. Their recordings are the most valuable intellectual property from that period. If people go looking for music from that time, that's what they'll seek out. That's the meat and potatoes, so it makes sense that labels guard it zealously.
Smaller and defunct labels: look for what fell through the cracks. Obscure and defunct labels usually don't have the same resources. Many were bought by bigger companies, but some catalogs fell through the cracks along the way, and that's where the opportunity is. Even among budget labels, some get passed over, and some don't. Take the Bihari brothers' labels, like Modern, Crown, and Custom: almost everything they released has been online for over a decade. They won't block you, though. They'll claim the ad revenue if your video is monetized.
Why smaller rights holders tolerate it. They'd rather get something than nothing. Most people will never go looking for their catalog unless collectors share it with a new generation, and hardly anyone is buying official reissues, if those even exist. So they'll take the ad share or sometimes split it, because the more people share their content, the more they earn. When older or background material does get blocked, it's usually because a rights holder is being particularly zealous. That's their right.
My approach. I don't post everything. I work in the areas I've learned from experience are safe to tread. I ask myself what's unlikely to be online but would interest my established audience. If I've done careful research and can't find a copy anywhere, I'll test it on a side account first, then post to my main channel if it's clear. You'd be surprised how much material is out there. You have to stay vigilant and keep looking. Honestly, with most of what I post, I'm lucky anyone's listening at all, and that's exactly why it's worth sharing.

Happy Independence Day. As we celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary, the occasion feels somewhat subdued compared to the bicentennial celebrations of 1976. Many who remember that era have noted a lack of the commemorative merchandise and patriotic fanfare that defined that milestone. Despite this shift in public observance, I remain hopeful for an impressive fireworks display in my city. On a personal note, I hold this music in high regard; I have a copy of this record in my collection, which was inherited from my wife's great-grandfather.

I meant to post this yesterday, but after 16 years and a couple of months, I've finally reached 5,000 subscribers 🎉. This is a niche channel, so I never expected to become a star. I'm truly grateful for the community and hope to stay involved for many more years ❤️.
