Welcome to Green Dot Aviation!
Each fortnight I release a new video about an air accident or incident. I use publicly available sources while researching these incidents, and I try to explain their causes in a way that is both accurate and accessible.
I am an Airbus pilot for a European airline, and I have a background in Psychology. The confluence between Psychology and Aviation is particularly evident when things go wrong in Aviation, and that's the main focus of this channel.

🟢 New video out! https://youtu.be/tPfc-yuBc14?si=Ykvmc...
The plane, an Airbus A320, was modern. The airline, Air Canada, was well-established, with a good safety record. And the pilots were experienced. So why did this flight go so horribly wrong?
This episode shows how thin the margin for error can be, especially when conditions are poor.

🟢 New video out now! 👉 https://youtu.be/qGdUgWBZi4U?si=naOim...
This was a truly nightmarish scenario - a short, wet runway, a plane with an engine problem, commercial pressure to land, and a recent change in procedures...
It's a harrowing watch, and the lessons from this accident were far-reaching.
Could this happen again? Watch to find out!

For those wondering if I will make a video about the recent UPS MD-11 accident in Kentucky - my policy is to wait until we have good information from official sources before making a video. I want this channel to continue to be a trustworthy source of high-quality information, and I'd only undermine that by speculating on very recent incidents and accidents where truly very little is known.

🟢 Green Dot goes live!
Hi all - this Sunday, 7th September, I'll be hosting the channel's first livestream in over 2 years!
I used to do livestreams semi-regularly, but they had to take a backseat during my flight training. They were always great fun, so I can't wait to do another one on Sunday! 🥳
In it, I'll be flying around in flight sim, answering your questions in the live comment section, and making a special announcement towards the end!
I'll be going live here on YouTube at 6pm Irish time, which is 5pm UTC.
Looking forward to seeing many of you there!

🟢 New video! -> https://youtu.be/2rprHJ_P7Ks?si=L4I3h...
This is a nail-biting story, where a perfect storm (pardon the pun) led this flight crew down a path which just got narrower and narrower. But why did it even get this bad in the first place? Watch to find out ✈️
Thanks to my Patreon members for helping make this video possible!

🟢 Today marks the 40th anniversary of the worst single-aircraft accident in history - Japan Airlines flight 123. This is a gut-wrenching story, and it was a harrowing one to research and write. Check out our video on it here: https://youtu.be/h3AWPhslRg4?si=Pga4G...
To recreate the flight accurately, we fed the actual flight data recorder information into the flight simulator (with the help of an expert on the case). So, what you see on screen is as accurate a rendition of the flight as is possible ✈️
🟢 Now, some channel updates:
Many of you have been asking when the next episode will release. I can confirm that it will be soon! Within the next 10 days. I am just finishing up my type rating, which has (unsurprisingly) not been conducive to spending long hours on the channel. We will be back to normal scheduling once my training is finished 🥳
In other news - I'll be hosting a livestream in the next week to celebrate the channel passing 500,000 subscribers. More on that in a post in the coming days - stay tuned! 👀

🟢 Watch our new episode now! https://youtu.be/sBm_s2f6V9s
This is a frustrating one - a perfect storm of human factors and some dodgy hardware rendered a (nearly) perfectly serviceable plane un-flyable.
If you've watched it already, let me know what you thought in the comments!

🟢 We just released a new video! https://youtu.be/oU7AsVbYaTg
This is a frightening story about how fast something apparently innocuous can snowball into a full-blown disaster. Could more have been done to prevent this from ending quite so badly? Watch to find out!
At 40 minutes, this video is one of our longer ones, so buckle up!
Today (June 2nd) Marks the 42nd anniversary of this accident.
Also - see you very soon for the special 500k subscriber livestream! 🥳

🟢 We’ve just passed 500,000 subscribers!! Half a million! 🤯✈️🥳
This is a huge milestone for the channel - just three years ago this number was 30,000 (I’d love to hear from some of those first 30k people in the comments on this post!). This is only just the beginning for the channel, and I’m thrilled to have so many of you along for the journey.
To celebrate this milestone, I’m going to do a livestream here on YouTube. In it, I’ll be answering your questions as they appear in the live chat, and I’ll be hosting an aviation-themed quiz for everybody to take part in 🥳 This is something fun which I used to do every month, and I’m going to resume it this year.
I’m still abroad at flight school right now, where the internet connection isn’t great - so I’m going to wait until I’m back home in early June to do this livestream.
Since I started this channel in 2021, it has gone from being a one-man-band, to a team effort with a very talented video editor, Aviral, who many of you know about, several researchers and writers, and a motion graphics editor. Without them, we could not make videos of the level of quality that we’ve been putting out recently.
I’d like to say a special thanks to the channel’s Patreon supporters, for allowing me and the team to continuously improve these videos for all of you. You can join them in helping to support the channel, and get access to some cool perks here: www.patreon.com/greendotaviation
We put a lot of effort into these videos and it’s rewarding to see that so many people appreciate us going the extra (nautical) mile.
Any questions you want me to answer on the livestream, put them in the comments below. I’m looking forward to getting to chat with all of you very soon!
Here’s to the next 500,000! 🎉
