Over the years, retailers’ demand for an additional standalone postharvest certification that includes a specific focus on hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) increased significantly. GLOBALG.A.P. PHA was developed to meet these market demands.

It addresses food safety and traceability in postharvest preprocessing activities for crops under the categories of cooling, packing, repacking, and storage/distribution. Four of its core topics include hazard analysis, waste management, transportation, and staff health and hygiene. Applicable to fruit and vegetables, combinable crops, and hops, PHA is benchmarked to the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI v2020.1) and accepted by buyers in the US market and beyond.
