Life is really just a combination of trying new things, learning new things, figuring out what works, and figuring out what doesn’t work… Then, eventually, we figure out what combination of things work for us to have a successful life…

We approach accounting & business just like that…

The lessons & results are just communicated by the numbers…

It’s just that simple…

In other words - Everything related to business performance is communicated by the numbers… Think about it… Revenue… Sales… Expenses… R.O.I… Cash… Equity… These are all of the key things you’d discuss when discussing your business success… They also happen to be key accounting terms…

In other words - Understanding your numbers literally means understanding your business performance...

Do I need to go further on why understanding your business’s performance is important? 😀

For MOST coaches, consultants, and professional service providers there is an expense, profit, and tax mix that we’ve seen that works the best…

If you’ve ever been around me discussing big picture business, you’ll probably hear a lot about tax savings, data-driven decisions, understanding your business by the numbers, and several analogies about all of it… 😄

One of the common things I talk about in real life that I don’t discuss a lot online is what I call the 70/20/10 rule…

If you spend 70% of your income on operational expenses, that leaves 20% to reinvest into the business (Ex. Assets), and 10% to set aside for taxes…

It’s SUPER generic, but if you don’t have a team like Right Choice who can really get your percentages dialed in based on what you’re doing specifically…

Most coaches and consultants view Accounting & Finance as only bookkeeping and tax.

Their accounting system consists only of categorized transactions, basic reports, and paying taxes every year.

This is the real reason they don’t really know what’s going on in their business. They have no idea if they are…

✔️ Paying too much in taxes.
✔️ Overspending on ‘shiny’ objects.
✔️ Underspending on the important stuff.
✔️ If they are growing or shrinking.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but by not knowing these things... You don’t know your business… That means you really don’t know if your business will be around this time next year…

The point -> Your accounting is way more than bookkeeping, write-offs, and switching to S-Corps… It literally is the key to clear business success!

The right coaching can literally be transformative! I’ve done before & after comparisons for my own business & my clients’ businesses… The data definitely supports the idea of hiring the right experts for the right things…

But…

It's important to understand who the right expert is based on YOUR SPECIFIC NEEDS… This could be an amazing coach, but don’t sleep on the idea that this could also be an amazing service provider… Think about it this way – Do I need to be taught this, or do I need someone to do this for me?

Here’s something else the data says about coaching…

The wrong coaching can literally kill your business! The nonspecific… get rich tomorrow… jack of all trades… dream sellers have almost the opposite effect of hiring the right experts for the right things…

Here’s the real answer – Coaching is like everything else in business… Some of it is good… Some of it is bad… Some of it is “medium” (smile)... It is what it is…

The key is – Having a specific way to measure & communicate the results of what your coach is providing…

If only you knew a team who could communicate that to you based on the numbers…. If only…

Hint: It’s us… We’re the team… (laugh emoji)
