My next song, "Coming Home," is easily the most personal song I've ever written. I started out trying to make a nostalgic-sounding pop song, and sonically I think I succeeded: where things went off-script was with the lyrics. I wanted to express how it feels to go back to the places that raised you, only for them to not feel the same as you remember.
It brought my to my grandmother.
My step-grandmother, technically. But she had married into my family decades before I was born. By all accounts, I consider her my grandmother.
At 9 years old, when my aunt died following a years-long battle with alcohol abuse, it broke me. It colored my view of death and mortality in ways I'm still working through. At her funeral, my step-grandmother looked me in the eyes and told me she wished her *real* grandchildren could be there to support her. She then reinforced the point, in case it wasn't clear to me: "honey, you are NOT my *real* grandson."
I loved her. She told me from the time I was little that she loved me. But when she passed away a couple years ago, I met her *real* grandchildren for the first time. Her only other two grandkids. I knew every detail of their lives from the day they were born because of how much she talked about them.
They had never heard of me. They had no idea who I was. And I feel like that entire facet of my childhood was a thinly-veiled facade that I just didn't want to see through. Silly me.
So yeah. This song is about how sometimes, as you get older, you reevaluate these feelings about these places and people that shaped you. Sometimes, the result is a little different. And it can hurt. And it's scary. But it's also a part of growing.
"Coming Home" is out February 6th. I hope you'll listen.

Hey y'all! Just a clarification on the 3 artist names you may see in this channel in case I've never really explained it.
1. Resaixo - my former artist name. Released the 4 Porter x Madeon mashups (Sea of Voices x Shelter x Divinity, All My Sad Machines, Only Way Out x Fellow Feeling x DreamDreamDream and Unfold x Heavy With Hoping x Wind Tempos), 2 EPs and 2 albums under this name. Everything from 2016-2024.
2. Re.s - My rebranded artist project. More of a continuation than a reset. I have my first album coming under this name soon! Everything from 2024-Present.
3. time•line - My duo side-project with vocalist MiaRose. Three tracks so far: When I Leave You Behind, Skeletons and Dancing Through Galaxies. I produce all of the songs, we co-write/sing them all. 2023-Present.
Sorry I've been so silent for a while... been doing opera-singer things up in St. Louis the last couple months. The album has 17 demos and I'm probably not done. It is, by design, extremely personal and more vulnerable than I'm used to doing. I've built the concept for this project and I'm working to fill in the gaps.
Really appreciate the handful of y'all hanging around from various times (Wyoming, the Porter mashups, Sight Unseen, Chaos, Duality, even the new peeps from Photograph Girl). Sometimes it feels like I'm creating art that ends up just shouting/falling into the void, but I'm glad to keep creating. I'm gonna see this album through, and then we'll see.
Hope y'all are well. (Including a shot of me in opera costume just to prove I'm still alive)
Okay, last question for a bit - I'm in the midst of putting together the "streamofconsciousness" tracklist, and there's one final decision I'm trying to make: should I include "me" and/or "you" in the album set? There are places I could fit either or both into the overall story (and the sonic stylings of the album are fairly diverse), but they weren't originally created with that intention. Any thoughts?

"Coming Home" is out on all platforms now. The music video premieres in two hours.
As far as I'm concerned, the completion of the rest of the album is mostly contingent on the response to this song.
If this ends up being it... it's been real, y'all. And I deeply hope you enjoy the song. ❤️
