Oh my God! I was playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and as I passed through a “nomad” camp, someone called me a “gadjo.” I was like, “Whaaat?!” Then I heard “Ay Devla” and other phrases like that, and I was shocked as hell to hear the NPCs speaking real Romani (Gypsy?) language. This is even more cool than hearing the Cumans speak Hungarian 😂 I love this saga so much!

Btw I grew up in a village where 60% of the population was Hungarian and 30% was Romani, so… this game feels like home 😂

The winter of protests...

1. Hungarian demonstrators are calling for Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s resignation after videos revealed staff at a state-run juvenile correction facility physically and s***ally ab**ing children, and accusing the government of protecting predators.

2. Lithuanians have been protesting against government plans to politicize the public broadcaster LRT, arguing that proposed reforms could undermine media freedom and compromise editorial independence.

3. Slovakians protest against Prime Minister Robert Fico’s judicial reforms, which could undermine the rule of law by abolishing the whistleblower protection agency, weakening criminal codes, and changing procedures for crown witnesses.

4. Bulgarians are protesting against the outgoing government, demanding electoral and judicial reforms, and the resignation of the acting Prosecutor General, while denouncing corruption linked to controversial political figures.

5. Romanians are protesting against judicial abuses, demanding integrity, transparency, and accountability in the justice system, and calling attention to politically backed judges exploiting loopholes while punishing those who speak out.

Should I do a quick 3-5 minute video explanation of why people in Romania are so mad right now?

Did y’all know this episode of Hungarian Folktales caused international beef between Romania’s National Audiovisual Council (CNA) and an international broadcasting company? It’s the story of a princess showing off her… assets in exchange for dancing pigs 😂

🇷🇴 🔴 Cheers to everyone who stood with us in protest across the country, no matter the size of your crowd. Let’s keep going in the days ahead!

Context:
A recent documentary by independent journalists has shed light on serious problems within Romania’s justice system. According to the investigation, some magistrates use administrative loopholes to delay corruption cases until the statute of limitations expires—allowing politically connected criminals to walk free.

The reporters highlighted several real cases dismissed this way, backed by testimonies from judges and prosecutors who say they’re fed up with these practices but feel powerless to stop them.

The documentary also points to the complicity of the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA), the overwhelming control exercised by the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM), questionable decisions within the Bucharest Court of Appeal (CAB), and legislative changes made under former Justice Minister Cătălin Predoiu that enable these abuses.

It further raises concerns about the President of the High Court, Lia Savonea—described by many critics as a controversial figure with a troubling track record—who, notably, was the only candidate for the position earlier this year.

Perhaps most shocking, some magistrates can reportedly retire as early as 48 with pensions exceeding the president’s salary, placing a massive burden on taxpayers. Efforts by the prime minister to reform this retirement system have been stalled by the same people, underscoring the depth of their power.
Meanwhile, honest judges and prosecutors are being sidelined, intimidated, or blocked from advancing in their careers.

After the documentary was published, the Bucharest Court of Appeal held a damage-control-style press conference. During it, a brave judge, Raluca Moroșanu, unexpectedly stood up and said that everything shown in the documentary is true and that anyone denying it is lying.

Thank you, Recorder, for exposing these issues in the documentary, and thank you to all the judges and prosecutors who were brave enough to speak out against corruption in the justice system.
