It's National Patient Advocacy Day🎉🤗👏🏽

According to "National Day Archives," National Patient Advocacy Day is observed annually on August 19 to raise awareness about the vital role of patient advocates in navigating the complex healthcare system.

Established by DECO Recovery Management in 2019.

Core Goal: To spotlight the importance of patients and caregivers raising their voices and to highlight support services like Medicaid enrollment, insurance navigation, and care coordination.

Roots: Modern patient advocacy began growing in the United States during the 1950s alongside advances in cancer research, clinical ethics, and patient rights movements.

What Patient Advocates Do?
Act as a middle person between patients, families, and medical staff. Help people understand confusing medical jargon, diagnoses, and treatment plans.

My name is displayed at the National Military Monument, presented by USAA, in DC.

It's open til August 23,2026 @ Lincoln Memorial Plaza from 10 am to 10 pm.

Why is it there? To express gratitude and a lasting commitment to those who've worn the uniform and for the families who've been there with them.

To find a member's name, in person at the Monument:
1. Find the summoning station.
2. Show the 6 digit code specific for the name.
3. Watch the name join the wall.
4. Take a photo once it's placed.
