The art of music composing upon prevailing Krithis in Carnatic music involves unique process which is totally subjective, influenced by personal feelings, tastes, or opinions. Melody (sequence of musical notes forming musical phrase) with intricate interplay of Raga, and Rhythm (arrangement of sounds and silences in time) with organized sense of Kaarvai serves as a building block for developing musical phrasing and interpretation to the meaningful lyrics (Sahitya). The Muthuswami Dikshitar magnum opus "Chetha Sri Balakrishnam" and another renowned devotional song Oru Neramenkilum, composed by Sri TS Radhakrishnan was the inspiration behind my creation of music in Raga Dwijavanthi. This Raga is typically spoken about in our world of music as a Northern import, possessing kinship to the Hindustani raga Jaijaivanti and Dikshitar having a hand in getting to know the Northern melody during his Kashi sojourn.
With mere mind travelling, it's unimaginable that Maharaja Swathi Thirunal possessed an absorbing devotion towards various dieties in addition to Lord Padmanabha being his Ishtadevata. "Paramabhadrakara" is an ode to the primordial and peerless Lord Parameswara who is revered as Panchanadeesa (Lord of the five rivers - Tiruvaiyaaru), the presiding deity of Aiyarappar Temple, Tiruvaiyaaru. Aroused by intense Sahitya, the composition in Raga Dwijavanthi was set to tune by myself as a humble tribute to the Royal Composer. Since the primary version was inaccessible from any musicians, the Raga is believed to be Dwijavanthi alone, as per the records available. Hence the originality of Raga (as described in records) is being maintained as such.
കർണാടക സംഗീതത്തിൽ നിലവിലുള്ള കൃതികളെ അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കി സംഗീതം രചിക്കുന്ന കലയിൽ വ്യക്തിപരമായ വികാരങ്ങൾ, അഭിരുചികൾ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ അഭിപ്രായങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയാൽ സ്വാധീനിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന, പൂർണ്ണമായും ആത്മനിഷ്ഠമായ ഒരു സവിശേഷ പ്രക്രിയ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു. രാഗത്തിന്റെ സങ്കീർണ്ണമായ ഇടപെടലോടുകൂടിയ മെലഡിയും (സംഗീത സ്വരങ്ങളുടെ ക്രമം) , താളത്തിൽ കാർവൈയുടെ സംഘടിത ബോധത്തോടെ (ശബ്ദങ്ങളുടെയും നിശബ്ദതകളുടെയും ക്രമീകരണം) അർത്ഥവത്തായ വരികൾ കൂടി ചേരുമ്പോൾ ഇവ സംഗീത പദസമുച്ചയവും വ്യാഖ്യാനവും വികസിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള ഒരു നിർമ്മാണ വസ്തുവായി വർത്തിക്കുന്നു. മുത്തുസ്വാമി ദീക്ഷിതരുടെ മഹത്തായ കൃതി "ചേത ശ്രീ ബാലകൃഷ്ണം, ശ്രീ ടി എസ് രാധാകൃഷ്ണൻ ഈണം പകർന്ന മറ്റൊരു പ്രസിദ്ധമായ ഭക്തിഗാനം ഒരു നേരമെങ്കിലും, എന്നിവയാണ് എന്റെ ഈ സംഗീത സൃഷ്ടിക്ക് പിന്നിലെ പ്രചോദനം. നമ്മുടെ സംഗീത ലോകത്ത് ജുജാവന്തി രാഗത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് സാധാരണയായി സംസാരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത് ഒരു വടക്കൻ ഇറക്കുമതി എന്ന നിലയിലാണ്. ഹിന്ദുസ്ഥാനി രാഗമായ ജയ്ജൈവന്തിയുമായി ഇതിന് ബന്ധമുണ്ട്. കാശിയിൽ താമസിച്ചിരുന്ന സമയത്ത് വടക്കൻ ഈണം അറിയുന്നതിൽ ദീക്ഷിതർക്ക് പങ്കുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
ഭഗവാൻ പത്മനാഭൻ തൻ്റെ ഇഷ്ടദേവത എന്നതിലുപരിയായി സ്വാതിതിരുനാൾ മഹാരാജാവ് വിവിധ ദൈവങ്ങളോടുള്ള സമർപ്പണ ഭക്തി നേടിയിരുന്നു. പരമഭദ്രകര" എന്നത് തിരുവൈയാർ അയ്യാരപ്പർ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ദേവനായ പഞ്ചനദീശൻ (അഞ്ച് നദികളുടെ നാഥൻ) എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ആദിമനും സമാനതകളില്ലാത്തവനുമായ പരമേശ്വരനെ പ്രകീർത്തിക്കുന്ന ഒരു സ്തുതിയാണ്. തീവ്രമായ സാഹിത്യത്തിൽ നിന്ന് പ്രചോദനം ഉൾക്കൊണ്ട്, മഹാരാജാവിന് ഒരു എളിയ ആദരസൂചകമായി, ദ്വിജാവന്തിയിലെ രചന ഞാൻ തന്നെ ഈണം പകർന്നതാണ്. പ്രാഥമിക പതിപ്പ് സംഗീതജ്ഞർക്ക് അപ്രാപ്യമായതിനാൽ, ലഭ്യമായ രേഖകൾ പ്രകാരം, രാഗം ദ്വിജാവന്തി മാത്രമാണെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. അതിനാൽ രാഗത്തിന്റെ മൗലികത (രേഖകളിൽ വിവരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ) ഈ കൃതിയിൽ അതേപടി ഞാൻ നിലനിർത്തുന്നു.
