So all that one is trying to say is that management is not about people direct but it is guiding people to perform tasks on their workload the right way within a timeline, thus you must lead yourself before you can lead others but not manage yourself before you can lead others.
You are a leader before you are a manager but you are never a manager before you are a leader. That is why leadership is about inspiring and mentoring the people to lead a vision while management is about monitoring the workload and coaching the people on the best way to get the tasks performed. Dealing with people to inspire commitment to the vision is leading but dealing with people to coach for the tasks performance the right way is managing. Your leadership journey begins the day you are born by your observation to when you begin to talk and to make requests for what you want or to reject what you do not want even when it is another person you never want to carry you or take you as an infant. Thus your temperament and attachment to some people but not to others during your infancy are a journey of your leadership. Your management journey begins alongside your leadership journey when you begin to perform house chores and to receive instructions on how to do it, it begins when you take your own bath and dress up yourself for the day's work.
