Seven months ago, my world changed forever when my mother passed away.

This week, I poured that grief, that love, and everything I’ve been carrying into a song written from my own experience.

When you lose your mother, it isn’t always the big moments that break you.

Sometimes it’s the kitchen.

The extra plate.

The instinct to call her.

And then one day—

You hear her voice come out of your own mouth.

You speak to your children the way she spoke to you.

You realise she never really left.

Her love just changed shape and stayed.

My next release is for every daughter and son learning to live with that kind of love.

We were young and thought we knew everything. We smiled, nodded, and then ran headfirst into the fire anyway. This old-school soul music ballad and healing gospel song is dedicated to the unforgettable wisdom of our grandmothers. We ignored the warnings about the wrong men, the bad jobs, and the fake friends, only to live through the heartbreak and realise Grandma was right all along.

Now, the cycle continues. We are the grandmothers sitting in the rocking chair, watching our own granddaughters make the exact same mistakes we were warned about. This is one of the best songs about grandmothers and breaking generational patterns of pain.

She worked two jobs... and never let us see her tired. 💔

When we were little, we thought it was normal. We thought making a meal out of nothing, leaving before sunrise, and coming home after dark was just what mamas did. We didn't see the worn hands, the aching back, or the nights she lost sleep holding back her fears.

Now that we are older, we finally see the truth. It was never easy. It was breaking her down, but she carried the weight in silence so we wouldn't have to.

My next official old-school soul release is a quiet letter of apology and a massive thank you to the women who gave their everything and never asked for praise: "She Never Complained." 🕊️
