This right here is why drivers are FED UP.
A driver had an emergency in Arvin, CA and stopped at the TA.
He needed ONE gallon of Rotella T6 5W-40 — something every truck on the road depends on.
TA charged him $70.77 for ONE gallon.
Let’s put that into perspective:
Actual Prices for the SAME Oil (1 gallon):
Walmart: $23–$29
AutoZone / O’Reilly: $28–$36
Amazon: $24–$32
Even dealership service departments don’t charge $65.99 for a single gallon.
So explain to us how TA magically arrives at 2–3x the national retail price…
Because that’s not convenience markup — that’s captive price gouging.
They know drivers in an emergency can’t shop around, and they take full advantage.
Lets Add to the list:
Paid parking
$18 showers
$15 fast food
Outrageous maintenance rates
And now $70 oil
This industry survives because of truck drivers — and truck drivers are being nickel-and-dimed to death at every turn.
If TA wants to talk about “serving drivers,” here’s a good place to start:
Explain how you justify charging 2–3× the real price for a product every truck needs to stay on the road.
We’re done staying quiet about this.
