Former President Rodrigo Duterte (2016-2022) was surrendered to the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) for charges of murder, torture and rape as crimes against humanity.

The arrest is part of ICC's investigation of the Philippine "war on drugs", which is estimated to have taken tens of thousands of civilian lives.
