Getting mix advice from people who's sound you don't really enjoy makes zero sense to me. Listen to their music, that will tell you whether their advice is worth something.
Techniques from different people can conflict. Look at the big picture from one person or a couple who have similar techniques.
For example... High passing is fine if you like that person's mix.
If it works in their mix that you enjoy, then that's good advice I think.

You guys are mostly not interested in premium amp sims/IRs anymore. According to the numbers. NAM and some free amp sim models have done what everyone thought/feared they would do. Why would you buy when you get the same if not better tones for free? I'm not sure where digital guitar tone is going but right now it's anyone's guess.
