Welcome to Fiber with Friends, a weaving-focused YouTube channel
This channel is a place to learn, explore, and be inspired by weaving, whether you’re brand new to the craft or a seasoned weaver looking to deepen your practice. Rebecca and Cecilia share weaving techniques, project walk-throughs, loom setup, yarn and dyeing processes, and behind-the-scenes looks at a working weaving studio.
We are about community and curiosity. We explore not just how to weave, but why, the rhythm of the loom, the beauty of hand-dyed yarns and the connections we build through fiber.
You’ll find:
• Weaving tutorials and tips
• Process videos and slow weaving moments
• Warp planning, dyeing, and loom prep
• Creative inspiration for fiber artists
• Honest conversations about life, craft, and making
Whether you weave on a rigid heddle or a floor loom, love color and texture, or simply enjoy watching cloth come to life, you’re welcome here.
Pull up a chair, grab your yarn, and weave with us.

Cecilia and I dyed a warp today. We will be dressing one of our 16 shaft AVL looms later this week and will start weaving shortly thereafter. If there is any part of our system that you would like to see, let me know and we will do our best to record it for you!

As unbelievable as it seems, we have had ANOTHER snow day here! Regardless, I was able to get one piece off the loom.
This first piece from our Opalite warp was woven with a nice thick tencel that we were trialing. I dyed the weft hydrangea and Cecilia wove it with heart weave.

What time would you be available to join us for a live video. We are planning to start them weekly. We will pick a week day, but we want to pick a time that works for most people. We are EST (same time zone as Toronto). I will add rough time frames on the poll, but if you have a specific time, please feel free to add that in the comments.

If you weave a lot, do you have an air purifier?
We have a fairly robust unit above our busiest loom to help keep our lungs in good shape. Even still we wear masks when weaving SUPER linty warps.

I was looking through my favorite photos and saw this one! This is from 2016 and I was pretty new to dyeing yarn. I’m still really proud of how well this piece reflected the inspiration picture. Do you think we #nailedit?

Question for my community!
I’m working on my “You can weave, I can help” video and I’m using a borrowed loom that I’ve never woven on before. Not to mention, I haven’t woven on a loom like this for several years. All of this to say, that I’m running into problem after problem. Nothing I can’t solve, but problems never the less.
So my question is this:
Should I leave in the struggles that I’m having, or for simplicity sake, and since I want this to be a video that people can refer to, should I cut out the struggles and just stick to the basic principles?
I’m torn because problems are super common and figuring out how to solve them is a BIG part of weaving, but learning the basics can be hard enough without watching someone problem solve as well.
