Rick Hotton Sensei is the founder of Sunday Morning Keiko. He has over 50 years of martial arts experience, and for over 40 years has been the head instructor of West Wind Karate Dojo in Sarasota, Florida. He has traveled around the world teaching seminars to martial artists of many different styles, sharing his technical knowledge as well as his perspective and philosophy on the principles of karate as they have evolved through his experience.
Sunday Morning Keiko is a worldwide community of martial artists with a common interest in enhancing the personal path of martial wisdom while honoring the traditions of our arts. We are a non-exclusive group, open to practitioners of any style who wish to connect with others exploring their practice of budo. We welcome members of any affiliation.

Shotokan Karate
To train in person with Rick Hotton Sensei, join us in Petaluma, California, October 18 & 19, 2025. The CA Fall Keiko hosted by Petaluma Karate Club offers the opportunity to experience Hotton Sensei's inspiring teaching and the fellowship of the Sunday Morning Keiko community. Martial artists of all styles are welcome. His philosophy brings together the foundation of Shotokan with principles from other karate styles, kobudo, and aikido with harmony and the insight of over 50 years of dedicated training and teaching.
