Ed Nash's Military Matters

I make videos on some of the more esoteric areas of military history and affairs, particularly obscure/forgotten aircraft, the conflict in Myanmar, new technology in defence, and current conflict news. I've also uploaded some combat footage from my time in Syria.

For anyone interested in the situation in Syria it looks like Damascus may fall tonight to the rebel forces.

For those wanting a Burma summary, Juice Media have just released this, which does a good job of raising the issues in their usual snarky style - which seems completely suitable TBH.

Hey everyone, was literally just about to release a Forgotten Aircraft video when YouTube flagged it as needing a review. Hope to get it out as soon as a human is actually in the loop.

Last week it was Ukraine invading Kursk, now rumours of a coup against Min Aung Hlaing, Myanmar's junta leader, being deposed in a coup by his own officers!

Again, I am watching closely but think it will be another case of giving it 24 hours to see what comes out.

Was going to do a report on the situation in Kursk today, but think it might be worth leaving another day to see what develops.

Challenge Problem:

I have a thought challenge for you clever folks on the internet to contemplate and discuss.

Scenario:

A lightly equipped force (let’s call it ‘A’) is engaged in a military campaign against an enemy (‘B’) who have the advantage of air power.

Obviously, avoiding the attentions of hostile air strikes is A’s primary way of staying safe, but when attempting to engage with B’s forces their air power quickly comes into play.

Additionally, B’s access to aerial assets is a significant impediment of A’s operational maneuverability.

Unfortunately, A has no access to anti-aircraft systems, being pretty much only able to field rifles and light machine guns.

So, the conundrum is this.

How does one counter a hostile air environment when you have no anti-aircraft capability?

Discuss.
