# A New Nature ( daily devotion)
**Bible Reference: 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)**
*"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."*
There comes a moment in our walk with God when we realize that Christianity is not simply about becoming a better version of ourselves—it is about becoming **a new creation**.
When we come to Christ, God does something deeper than changing our behavior. He changes our nature. The desires, attitudes, habits, and identity that once defined us no longer have to control us. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, God begins a work within us that transforms us from the inside out.
Our past may have shaped us, but it does not have the final word. Our mistakes may have marked us, but they do not determine who we are. In Christ, we are no longer prisoners of who we used to be. We have been given a new nature, a new identity, and a new purpose.
**Ephesians 4:24** says, *“And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”*
The new nature does not mean we will never struggle again. It means we no longer have to face our struggles alone or live according to the desires of our old nature. The Holy Spirit is continually transforming us, teaching us to think differently, love differently, forgive differently, and live differently.
Sometimes we become discouraged because we still see weaknesses in ourselves. But remember: **God is not finished with you.** Transformation is a process. Just as a seed does not become a tree overnight, spiritual growth takes time. Every day, God is molding you into the person He has called you to be.
Do not keep returning to the identity Christ died to free you from. You are not your past. You are not your failures. You are not the names people have called you. If you are in Christ, you are **new**.
Today, surrender your old ways to God and allow Him to renew your heart. Ask Him to help you walk in the reality of your new nature. Let your thoughts, words, choices, and relationships reflect the life of Christ within you.
**Prayer:**
Lord, thank You for making me a new creation in Christ. Help me to let go of the old nature and embrace the new life You have given me. Renew my mind, transform my heart, and teach me to walk in righteousness and holiness. When I am tempted to return to who I used to be, remind me of who I am in You. Let my life reflect Your love, Your character, and Your presence. Continue Your transforming work in me until my life becomes a testimony of Your grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
