Meet Mia Khan, a daily wage laborer from Afghanistan's Paktika Province. For over seven years, Mia made it his daily mission to ride his motorcycle 12 kilometers just to take his three daughters to school. But he didn't just drop them off and leave—he sat outside the school for nearly four hours every single day, waiting to bring them back home safely.
Living in a conservative rural region where girls facing major obstacles to getting an education is the norm, Mia refused to let poverty, distance, or tradition hold his children back.


Mia was forced to drop out of school as a child when his family couldn't afford it, so he vowed to give his daughters the future he never had. Because he couldn't afford to send all of his children to school at once, he made the incredibly difficult choice to prioritize his daughters' education.


His biggest dream? To see them become doctors. His home province severely lacks female physicians, and he hopes his girls will return one day to improve healthcare for women in their community.


A Shared Fight Against Darkness
When an illness later prevented Mia from working, his wife, Khorma, stepped up. She took a grueling job cleaning floors at a hospital to keep the family afloat. Witnessing the respect and wages educated doctors earned only strengthened their resolve.

Being able to read and write is like having light in the darkness," Khorma shared.


Even though neither Mia nor Khorma can read, their daughters diligently did their homework alone, promising to make their parents proud. Mia’s unwavering determination didn't just change his daughters' lives—it changed minds. His village went from skeptical to praising his dedication, inspiring neighbors to start educating their daughters too!

A Father’s Final Gift: The $10 Beer Six Years in the Making.



Before John Goodman passed away from cancer in 2015, he made one final, incredibly thoughtful request. He gave his daughter, Casey, a $10 bill with a strict instruction:
keep it safe until her younger brother, Matt, turned 21.

John wanted to ensure that even after he was gone, he could still buy his son his very first legal beer.


For nearly six years, Casey kept the secret, tucking the bill safely inside an envelope in her closet. On the night before Matt’s 21st birthday in December 2020, she finally handed it over.

Matt was completely stunned. He took that exact $10 bill and bought a Bud Light—his dad’s absolute favorite—and raised a glass in his honor.

"It was actually like he was there buying me my first beer," Matt said.

When Matt shared the heartwarming moment on Twitter, it completely blew up. Budweiser even caught wind of the viral post and sent him hundreds of beers! But instead of keeping the spotlight on himself, Matt asked people to stop buying him drinks and instead donate to the **Dana-Farber Cancer Institute**, the amazing facility that cared for his dad.
