Did you have a word of the year for 2025?

And if you did—did 2025 actually reflect it? Or did life have other plans?

I chose Vulnerability as my word for 2025. And honestly? I resisted it at first. But then I started noticing how much lighter I felt — unburdened by secrets. Looking back now, it showed up in ways I didn't expect and taught me things I didn't know I needed to learn.

As I prepare to choose my word for 2026, I wrote an article reflecting on how Vulnerability shaped this past year. The good, the hard, and the messy.

It got me wondering: does anyone else do this?

If you HAD a word for 2025, drop it in the comments. I want to know—did it show up? Did it change you? Or are you still figuring out what it meant?

Your ADHD brain doesn't do "traditional budgeting" the way the finance bros teach it—and honestly? That's not the problem they made you think it was.

You see money differently. You think in possibilities, not just spreadsheets. The same brain that struggles to track every single expense can also look at your skills and see seven different ways to monetize them that nobody else thought of.

I've watched my clients come up with the most creative income streams, side hustles, and financial strategies—not in spite of their ADHD, but because of it. They don't think in straight lines, so they find routes to wealth that the "just follow the plan" people never see.

And I get it because I do the same thing. My brain will forget to log a $12 purchase but can see a business opportunity three moves ahead that most people miss completely.

Can you organize a traditional budget? Sure, with the right tools and systems that actually work with your brain. (That's literally what I help people build.)

But can you also see opportunities, pivot fast, and create solutions on the fly? Absolutely. And in a world that's constantly changing, that's the real competitive advantage.

The goal isn't to make your brain work like everyone else's. The goal is to build a financial system that works with the brilliant, non-linear, pattern-recognizing brain you already have.

Stop trying to fix what was never broken. Start leveraging what makes you different.

What was the hardest part about managing your money this week?

Real talk — I'm asking because I know some of y'all had MOMENTS. 👀

Maybe it was:
- That grocery run where you grabbed everything except what was on your list
- Buying lunch every day because cooking felt like too much
-That online cart you filled at 2am when you couldn't sleep

Saying yes to plans you couldn't afford because you didn't want to miss out

Here's the thing — 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴.

When we buy impulsively, we're usually trying to fill an emotional need:
Stress relief
Connection
Control
Comfort
Joy

And there's nothing wrong with ANY of those needs. The problem is when shopping becomes our only way to meet them.

So let's get curious instead of critical.

𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗲: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸?

Was it stress? Boredom? Loneliness? Celebration? Overwhelm?

No judgment here — just awareness. Because once we name it, we can tame it.

P.S. — That grocery store wandering? We've ALL been there. You're not broken, you're human.

Ever caught yourself buying something random and thought: “Why did I even get this?”

You’re not alone.
Emotional spending doesn’t just happen. It’s usually a mix of two things:

👉🏾 A trigger (what you’re feeling)
👉🏾 A temptation (what you’re buying)

The magic happens when you can name both.
Because when you can name it, you can tame it. 🙌🏾

💡 Next time you’re about to buy something off-plan, pause and ask:

What am I feeling right now? (trigger)

What am I reaching for? (temptation)

That one moment of awareness can be the difference between guilt and growth.

Share this to a friend who’s working on mindful money moves — and save this for your next “why did I buy this?” moment. 🖤

Idk who needs to hear this but you are not failing your kids because money is tight.

I’ll say that again cause some of yall only hear when I raise my voice

🗣️ You’re not failing your kids because money is tight.

You're showing them how to be wise.
How to love with limits.
How to break cycles with care. 🖤

That’s legacy work.
We’re talking more about it later today.

If we’re going to be friends it’s important that I’m able to call you out on B.S. at times

That being said friend, I need to lovingly call out this lie we keep telling ourselves 💕 (me included)

"I can't afford self-care" is just fear dressed up as practicality.

The truth? Burnout has been charging you interest this whole time - in your health, your relationships, your money decisions, and your peace.

Self-care isn't selfish. It's strategic. It's an investment in the woman who's carrying everyone else.

Your future self is depending on you to take care of her TODAY. Even if it's just 5 minutes of deep breathing.

You deserve to feel good in your body, your mind, and your life. And you don't need permission or a perfect budget to start.

But sometimes we need someone to remind us we're worth the investment.

If you're tired of running on empty and ready to have a real conversation about what support looks like for YOUR life, join me live every Self-Care Sunday LIVE and let’s chat.

Just honest conversation about where you are and where you want to be. Because healing your relationship with yourself (and your money) starts with believing you're worth it 🥰

We’ve all been there. You’re overwhelmed, stressed, and next thing you know… you’re at checkout with a full cart and no memory of how you got there. 😩💸

What’s your stress-spending vice?
Drop it in the comments 👇🏾

Read that again. 💕

You can't budget from a place of burnout. You can't make good money decisions when you're running on empty. You can't stick to financial goals when your nervous system is in survival mode.

Financial self-care isn't just about:
✨ Emergency funds (though those matter)
✨ Budgeting apps (though those help)
✨ Investment accounts (though those grow)

It's also about:
✨ Getting enough sleep so you don't impulse spend
✨ Eating regularly so you don't panic-buy groceries
✨ Managing stress so you don't shop your feelings
✨ Setting boundaries so you don't overspend on others
✨ Resting so you can think clearly about money

When you take care of your mind, body, and spirit FIRST, your money decisions flow from a place of clarity, not chaos.
Stop feeling guilty about prioritizing your wellbeing. It's not selfish—it's strategic.
Your future self (and your bank account) will thank you. 🌱

What's one way you're going to practice actual self-care this week?
