✈️ COURAGE IN THE COCKPIT — A SALUTE TO THE HEROES OF FZ1073

Flydubai Flight FZ1073, travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv on September 30, experienced a violent cockpit emergency and a dramatic loss of altitude before eventually landing safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.

According to multiple reports, Capt. Smit Machchhar, despite being seriously injured, managed to unlock the cockpit door before collapsing, enabling intervention from outside the cockpit. Passenger Yaniv Hayoun later described entering the cockpit, helping restrain the alleged attacker and briefly acting on the controls before other qualified crew took over.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly praised their courage and later met Hayoun after his return to Israel. Netanyahu also specifically credited Capt. Machchhar with helping save the people aboard.

Whatever the investigation ultimately establishes about the motive, the courage displayed during those critical moments deserves recognition.
