Hello, my name is Katy, and I love to play the violin! I especially like playing Celtic music, and I have so much fun writing little tunes.
I am not professional violinist/fiddler. I just like playing music as a hobby.
I play a lot of Celtic music, but I am an American from Colorado. ^_^
Feel free to say "Hi!" =)
I needed to set up a PO box in order to create an email list/newsletter, so here's my official PO box address:

My heart goes out to all affected by the recent mass shootings this weekβ Iβve heard attacks have happened in Atlanta, Boulder, Dallas, Houston, Stockton, and Gresham. RIP to those who have died. Their lives have been cut far too short. π π
This is a picture from Chautauqua Park during my first trip to Boulder about 13 years ago. Since then, Iβve frequently gone busking on Pearl Street, and attended a few great Boulder sessions with amazing musicians. The town is beautiful, welcoming, vibrant, and has always felt very safe to me. This peaceful park is only about 2 miles from the grocery store that was attacked β itβs hard to truly comprehend that these incidents can occur anywhere, at any time, and can happen in a town like Boulder. Iβm sad such terror has happened so frequently in Colorado, and in the United States. Will it ever end?

Hi there! Happy Halloween! π
I signed up for "Play for the Vote," which is an organization that matches local musicians up with polling locations to play on election day to help encourage people to vote: www.playforthevote.com/. My assigned performance location and time information is below:
LOCATION: South High School - 1700 E Louisiana Ave, Denver, CO, 80210
DAY: November 3, 2020
TIME: 12p-1p
DURATION: 1 hour
It's probably going to be similar to busking outside the polling location, but without collecting tips. If you are in the Denver area, feel free to stop by while practicing social distancing, and don't forget to VOTE!!! ππΊπΈ
Time for me to dust off my backing tracks and practice!

Stay safe and healthy!!

I've had many people ask me if I have a Patreon page, or if I could set up a Patreon page so they could directly support me. Some people have even sent me letters and money through the mail, and I felt absolutely terrible when I learned one of the donations someone had sent had been delivered to the wrong PO Box!! =( I really appreciate all of the support and kind words, but those who kindly donate should be able to confidently know their money is going where they want it to go. So, I decided to set up a Patreon page:
www.patreon.com/KatyAdelson
Patreon is a membership website where users can subscribe to support an artist directly in exchange for access to exclusive content. This is the best way to directly support me as an artist! If you like what I have been posting online, and if you would like to help me create more music projects, please check out my Patreon page! =)
Please only contribute if you feel you have the financial means to do so -- it is completely optional, and I will always have my main YouTube music content available free for people to watch and listen to. Watching, sharing, and streaming my videos and music is a great way to support me, too! =)
I will be posting behind-the-scenes information and footage, extra little violin clips, and updates about what is going on in my life as exclusive content on my Patreon page.
Thank you again, and I really appreciate all of you for your support! It really means a lot! =)

I help moderate a YouTube forum called, "YTtalk" (yttalk.com/). It's a good place for up-and-coming video creators to learn about YouTube. Each year, YouTube creates a "YouTube Rewind" video summarizing what happened during the year, and this year, YTtalk forum members decided to create a rewind video, too! If you would like to see it, here is a link:

Hi Everyone!! I hope you are having a good weekend! =)
I have gotten lots of emails, comments, and messages asking if I could put some of my YouTube music onto an album available on Amazon, iTunes, Spotify, and hopefully a physical CD (I've learned CD's are expensive to print in bulk...so they might have to come a little bit later...). I've been reluctant to do this since all of my music thus far has just been me experimenting and trying to learn how to record the violin, create backing tracks, and mix music tracks together -- but so many viewers have asked for an album that I think I should definitely put one together with some of the songs I've recorded! ^_^
My question is, which songs should I include?
Here is a list of tunes I have been considering. This list runs about 42 minutes long, so I think there is room for a few more songs. Do you have any suggestions of songs I've produced that I should add or remove from this list? I'll try to take as many people's comments into consideration as I can!
01. Drunken Sailor | 2:26
02. Dancing Bear | 2:11
03. Running Wheel Reel | 2:54
04. Deku Palace | 2:59
05. Banks of Spey | 1:59
06. Franks Reel + St. Kilda Wedding | 2:15
07. Skye Boat Song | 1:58
08. Swallowtail Jig | 1:22
09. Morrison's Jig | 2:17
10. Crested Hens + Far Away | 3:18
11. Jump at the Sun + Glass Island Reel + Wizard's Walk | 3:32
12. Scully's Reel + Farewell to Chernobyl | 2:26
13. Tam Lin + Julia Delaney | 4:15
14. West Leyden Waltz | 2:51
15. Silver and Gold two-step | 2:13
16. Sponge | 2:17
I'm going to think of this album as kind of a "musician kick-starter" kind of thing. With it, I'm hoping to reinvest in better recording equipment, music production classes, and/or working with other producers to learn better/new techniques.
I mentioned this on Facebook, but not YouTube: I've also been working on a Turlough O'Carolan fiddle duets and trios music book! I'm in the editing stages of it, and I'll post more information about it soon! =)
Your suggestions are very much appreciated! Thank you so much! ^_^

EDIT: Thank you for your suggestions!! I updated the list to now look like this:
Here is the updated list so far:
01. Drunken Sailor | 2:26
02. Dancing Bear | 2:11
03. Running Wheel Reel | 2:54
04. Deku Palace | 2:59
05. Double Lariate | 2:27
06. Da Slockit Light | 3:36
07. Banks of Spey | 1:59
08. Frank's Reel + St Kilda Wedding | 2:15
09. Paddy on the Turnpike + Tommy's Tarbukas | 2:27
10. Bus Stop Reel + Catharsis | 2:20
11. Arkansas Traveler + Doctor Doctor | 1:48
12. Skye Boat Song | 1:58
13. Peacock Feathers | 1:42
14. Swallowtail Jig | 1:22
15. Morrison's Jig | 2:17
16. Crested Hens + Far Away | 3:18
17. Cliffs of Moher + Star of Munster | 2:12
18. Coleraine Jig | 2:03
19. Butterfly + Kid on the Mountain | 3:16
20. Si Bheag Si Mhor | 2:51
21. Jump at the Sun + Glass Island + Wizard's Walk | 3:32
22. Scully's Reel + Farewell to Chernobyl | 2:26
23. Tam Lin | 2:29
24. Ashokan Farewell | 3:34
25. St. Anne's + Sally Gardens | 2:35
26. Sponge | 2:17
27. West Leyden Waltz | 2:51
28. Silver and Gold Two-Step | 2:13
29. Beautiful Dreamer | 2:44
30. Cradle Song | 2:04
31. Hobgoblins Waltz | 1:26
32. Halloween Reel | 2:22
33. Habanera from Carmen | 2:33
Not all of this will fit on a physical CD, but I'd imagine it should still work with iTunes and digital downloads. That way people can pick whichever song they want, or get all of them for the standard album price ( I think around $10??). For now, I need to work on figuring out licensing and royalties for the tunes that are covers -- I'll figure out the CD part another day. ^_^
