I’m leaving Vancouver and driving Fern deeper into British Columbia on my way to Shambhala Music Festival.

This stretch takes us through Hope, over the Coquihalla, and into the Okanagan. With a bus that’s no stranger to breaking down and a strict deadline to arrive at the festival grounds, I’m anxious to see how Fern will handle some of the most challenging terrain of this journey.

Eight years ago, I attended Shambhala Music Festival while dreaming of living a life built around travel and freedom. A few months later, I became a nomad, and everything in my life changed.

Now, after years of travelling the world, I’m finally returning to the festival that started it all. And this time, I’m driving my bus Fern across BC to get there.

Hundreds of kilometres, high mountain passes, and a whole lot of road are ahead for me and my 40-year-old bus. After more than a few breakdowns during our adventures together, getting from one destination to another is never guaranteed to go according to plan…

Vegas was finally within reach, but the final stretch ended up being the most challenging part of the entire trip... 🌵

Fern started struggling on the hills, propane stops became significantly harder to find, and what should have been a short drive through the desert turned into a serious test of luck. 🎰
