To the Teachers You are more than educators—you are builders of courage, patience, and possibility. Every lesson you teach plants a seed that may not bloom today, but will shape a lifetime. Thank you for choosing impact over ease, and purpose over praise. To the First-Time Learners This is your beginning. It’s okay to be nervous. It’s okay to be curious. It’s okay to take small steps. You don’t need to know everything—you only need to show up and try. You belong here. To the Parents Your love is the quiet strength behind every brave step. The packed lunches, early mornings, gentle encouragement, and unwavering belief— they matter more than you know. You are raising futures. To All of You This journey is not about perfection—it’s about progress. Walk together. Support one another. And remember: every great story starts with a brave first day. By Nonhlanhla Radebe
Just because you have nothing today doesn’t mean emptiness is your destiny. Today is only a pause, not the final sentence of your story. Roots grow in silence. Seeds break open in the dark. What looks like nothing is often preparation. Storms don’t own the sky forever, night never argues with morning. What you lack today is not a prophecy. You are becoming. You are rebuilding. You are gathering strength quietly. This moment is temporary. Your becoming is inevitable. Nothing today does not mean nothing forever.

I Don’t Believe in Christmas I don’t believe in Christmas, not the way it’s sold to us. I don’t believe in the pressure to smile on command, to spend money I don’t have, to sit at tables with people who only remember my existence once a year. For me, December is not wrapped in glitter. It’s wrapped in memories. Some heavy. Some unfinished. Some that don’t fit neatly under a tree. I’ve learned that not everyone associates Christmas with joy. For some of us, it marks absence — empty chairs, unanswered messages, voices we wish we could hear just one more time. I don’t believe in pretending that grief takes a holiday. It doesn’t. Loss doesn’t pause because the calendar says “festive season.” So when the world turns louder with carols and laughter, I turn inward. I choose honesty over performance. Quiet over chaos. I believe in rest. In small kindnesses that don’t need an occasion. In checking on people when there’s nothing to celebrate. I believe in love that shows up in January, in February, on ordinary days when no one is watching. So no — I don’t believe in Christmas. But I believe in something deeper. I believe in surviving the year. I believe in healing at my own pace. I believe in choosing peace, even when it looks different from everyone else’s joy. And that, for me, is enough. — Nonhlanhla Radebe

I don’t believe in Christmas,
not the way it’s sold to us.
I don’t believe in the pressure to smile on command,

For me, December is not wrapped in glitter.

I don’t believe in pretending that grief takes a holiday.
It doesn’t.

So when the world turns louder with carols and laughter,
I turn inward.
I choose honesty over performance.
Quiet over chaos.
