I ordered these books as soon as my five year old asked me this question- “In the United States, is the president the King?”

In the meantime, I explained to both the kids that the United States is a democracy and what that means.

Basics about the republican and the democratic party.

I also explained to them
* what red and blue states mean
* what swing states are
* how elections are held
* how parties win.
* What party is currently ruling in the United States

These books were out, and the kids automatically started reading. Now, we’re going deeper into the concepts.

I’ll record all this learning and progress and this is how we make our own curriculum.

In the world of AI and excessive screen time, I focus a lot on writing- thinking and the physical act of creating curves.

Good handwriting changes the brain and we’re making sure my kiddos are getting plenty of practice while I give them feedback on how to form beautiful and ergonomic letters.

Both my kids are enjoying cursive practice using these sheets I created. Just print and practice. None of the other lined notebooks I bought from Amazon have a comfortable line height for little hands. Download the pdf for free!

A homeschooling win worth mentioning: The tennis teacher asked the class how high the middle of the net was. My kiddo knows she's taller than 3 feet and shorter than 4 feet, so she guesses 3 feet by looking at how much taller than the net she is.

The coach asked how many inches it was, and she quickly calculated 12x3 and answered 36 inches!

Traditional learning of memorizing does not teach this type of critical thinking and scientific analysis. Project-based and concrete Math learning has been a winner in our household.
