Mike & Kathy 2020 Appalachian Trail Hike.

Thank you all for all your support.

Here’s what our day of getting home consisted of:
8 people on first flight.
The Atlanta Airport Train had only 4 people riding it that all were connecting to Salt Lake City.
We have never seen this airport so empty.
Salt Lake City had less traffic than normal.

We tried to buy groceries on our drive home and were shocked to see empty shelves in 3 stores.

THE HARDEST THING TO HAPPEN UPON GETTING HOME was ...
Our kids would not hug us because we had been away and on airplanes. They also stayed 5 feet away from us. They are scared to death of getting COVID-19.

There are 2 confirmed COVID-19 cases in our small town; a healthy 30 year old women whom, with her children and husband, are quarantined at home. plus the 8 men her husband worked with are also being quarantined. The other confirmed case is a healthy 40 year old man whom had traveled abroad.

Hikers HYOH! But be aware that if you do make the choice to leave the trail what is happening off trail is very scary and very real.

We are very happy we made the decision to come home and waiting for our family to feel comfortable with giving us a BIG HUG!
