Welcome to the Clough42 shop. We get up to all kinds of nonsense in here: manual and CNC machining, 3D printing, toolmaking, electronics, PCB design, CAD, and sometimes even frickin' lasers!

Happy Easter everyone! However you choose to mark the day, I hope you have the opportunity to spend time with people you love. I spent today installing C5 ballscrews in the PM728 mill, bringing it one step closer to running under its own power. Technically, the X axis has already run under its own power. The motor is necessary to support one end of the screw, and since it was there, I had to give it a spin. Everything went smoothly, except that I'm still waiting for a few parts to plumb oil to the nuts. I filmed it all and that video will be coming next Saturday. Stay tuned...

Looks like the bots are after me! These comments were all posted on my FLSUN review video over the course of six minutes this morning. I sure hope the bot service was cheap, because the execution is ham-fisted. YouTube also scrubbed them after about an hour, so I hope they can get their money back.

Contrary to the rumors, I'm alive and well. I prepared a couple of videos in advance to give me time to recover from a planned surgery in December, but I've had some complications that are stretching out the recovery timeframe. I've shared more detail with my patrons, but suffice it to say that I'm not expecting any long-term issues. It's just frustrating. Nobody wants me back in the shop more than I do.
My family, my friends, and my amazing patrons are all telling me the same thing: my only priority needs to be getting better, and I am reluctantly accepting that advice. I've attempted to return to the shop on a couple of occasions, and while I enjoyed myself and got a few things done, my body has made it clear that it's still too soon.
I have several projects in the pipeline. With my very limited energy, I've been able to make a few parts for the surface grinder project. I've been playing with a couple of 3D printers: the Bambu Lab A1, and the Prusa XL. I've also been playing with some new camera gear that should help streamline my processes and improve my image quality. Having some downtime without a (self-imposed) deadline has made it possible to explore some of this stuff more leisurely, and that's nice, but I'm itching to get going again.
The time for that will come, but for the next little bit I'm going to be healing. It turns out that energy is a limited resource, and it's important. Also hull integrity. That's definitely something you want. :)

Any thoughts on proper lubrication for this beautiful old Hardinge Speed-Collet chuck I picked up at the Bar-Z Summer Bash? It has a zerk fitting, and it's currently got a soupy mess inside that smells like way oil. Is that the intended lubricant for these, or would I be better off with grease?

I'm looking for a manual for this Federal 230-series gage amplifier and EHE-1048 gage head (see multiple photos). If anyone has one or has a lead on where to get one, I would very much appreciate it. I contacted Mahr, and they provided me a scanned version of the manual, but the quality is quite poor, and the schematic in the back is essentially unreadable.

Just in case you've been living under a rock, this is a scam. I will never ask you to contact me via Telegram. I've been watching all the big channels wrestle with these scammers for a while and I guess we're finally getting big enough here to be a target. If you see these, please report them to YouTube.
