2026 for me has been a year of change and growth when it comes to my musical output and it's a trend I want to continue further for the rest of the year. Ride that wave so to speak.

So my last big release was my Industrial EP 'Initiate' under my Fear for the Flesh moniker and while the sales have not been as great as last year's Alessa Gillespie album 'Sophie Moore's Effort' the few people that did listen to it seemed to really *get it* and talked positively about it. In a way that humbled me and gave me the confidence that despite being a drop of water in a gargantuan sea? Maybe I am making art that is valid and special to people.

And then there were the singles I released in the meantime; most notably the unveiling of two new projects namely Void Girl and .klank//toon. With Void Girl, I released 'Her/Magpie' showcasing a more dreamy part of me in the way of Ambient and Shoegaze sensibilities. This is a part of me that was already present in my work as Alessa Gillespie but felt it needed a new moniker so I was free to explore that side of me further.

With .klank//toon. I'm getting my experimental side out. It's basically me being massively inspired by Hainbach. Not in a I want to do the Hainbach sound to a tee, more like that he inspired me to look for sounds in the places that aren't always obvious. The debut single shows a beginning to that but... you ain't heard nothing yet. This single is more sugary sweet Ambient which I dubbed Bubblegum Ambient and the B-side is a slightly more dark affair. But the stuff I have brewing right now is on another level and will really show my more experimental side and experimentations in more organic and acoustic ways of sound generation as well as synthesizers.

Which brings me to the, hopefully, near future of .klank//toon. as I did submit some tracks to two upcoming compilations. These tracks show incredible progress already compared to the single and I hope they will accept my submissions so I can share these with you all in the future.

I have also recently released a new 'Live Session' with more coming up. These were all done on holiday where I came away with four tracks! The other ones will release over the coming two months and show more of my more Ambient and Dark Ambient work.

So that's what I've done recently but what do I have planned for the near future? Well, right now I'm working on finishing some sketches I had laying around and didn't know what to use them for. And after seeing that Untidy Radio was looking for music for the station to use as in between music I proposed to finish these for use by the station. I love this as it gives new life and a purpose to tracks that were stuck in a state of limbo.

And those that follow my Shorts might have seen my experimentations in the genre of Dungeon Synth which are totally not done out of spite. For more info on that I implore you to just check out the series. I basically approached these as a challenge to myself and others but while doing this I put so much of myself in this that it became so much more and I feel like I might continue this as a new project. It probably will remain as a more side-projectey thing but I was surprised that I had fun making music in a genre that I thought wouldn't be my thing. So I'm now working on a single as that track from the Shorts is basically done bar some mixing and mastering. So now I'm just working on a B-side that will be a more quirky and whimsical take on Dungeon Synth. So expect that too somewhere in the future.

And when all that is done I will start work on a Fear for the Flesh full-length album. Which is not a promise to be honest! I also announced that I was gonna work on an Alessa Gillespie EP and that kinda fell in the water, more on that later. But yeah these are projects I start to tackle but are in constant flux. For instance this might jsut become an EP instead or I realize I feel unchallenged and tapped out and shelve the project altogether. Which brings us to Alessa Gillespie.

Because that is exactly what happened with the Alessa Gillespie EP! I had an idea laid out for the new EP but when I started working on the sketches I had for this I just didn't feel it. I felt... bored, unchallenged. It felt like going trhough the motions. This is the music that helped me get comfortable with making music on a computer. And while the computer is still the center and heart of my music production the use of hardware synths and effects have really expanded the scope of my music most importantly in how it made me move away from the safety of preset sounds. And this has in some ways drastically changed my sound but mostly my approach as in how I make tracks. And that previous approach was very much tied to how I made Alessa tracks. So when I wanted to pick them back up I felt bored and unchallenged, there was no pushback. So I decided to put a bow on the Alessa Gillespie era as I feel that with 'Sophie Moore's Effort' I made a really good album to close off that era. It's an album that resonated with people and that I'm super proud of so honestly? It feels like the perfect way to end it on a bang. But that Alessa side of me is something that now seemed to have evolved into Void Girl while other parts fit really well in my Fear for the Flesh stuff. So in a way that side of me will live on in these other projects.
