But disabled people and DEI did NOT cause the horrific plane crash at DCA last night.
My heart goes out to all of the people and families affected. I am both so sorry for your unimaginable loss and that our president has decided to use a tragedy such as this to further his asisine political agenda.
I Want To Send You A Handwritten Valentine’s Day Card ❤️
Over the past year, this community here on social media has completely blown my mind 🥹
Y’all have been so supportive of me and my content that I wanted to do something fun to bring the joy offline too 🥰
I’ve had a lot of requests to do in person meet-ups. But the problem is y’all live all over the place! 🌍
And as much as I’d love a world tour, we aren’t quite there yet 😅
So, instead, I’ve decided to combine my love of stationary and spreading positivity and offer handwritten Valentine’s Day cards to anyone who signs up for my Patreon!
patreon.com/user?u=32525159
Obviously, Valentine’s Day is only one month out of the year, so if this trial goes well, I’ll be extending the offer so you can receive a personalized note of encouragement from me in the mail once a month!
And if 50+ people sign up, I’ll be able to afford to open a PO Box so I can receive letters back and respond to them directly!
This is truly just the beginning of a lot of fun things I have up my sleeve for 2023.
And, if you saw the video about my 2022 income, you’ll know that being a content creator hasn’t been very financially viable for me.
By supporting my Patreon you will actively be helping me continue to make content for the rest of the year ❤️
So, if you’d like to get a Valentine’s Day card from me, be sure to sign up at the link in my bio TODAY! I’d hate for it not to arrive on time 😂
Go ahead and read that statement a few times so you can understand the immense amount of power behind it.
Today I want to #BreakTheBias surrounding the intersection between Disability and womanhood.
Throughout history, women have played a very particular role.
They have essentially served as caregivers and have only been allowed to exist and operate within the male gaze of our patriarchal society.
Disabled women, however, have always been and continue to be cast-off as undesirable, worthless beings. In a world that only values a woman for her ability to take care of a man, disabled women don’t stand a chance.
That is why I fight today and why this video is so important.
In a world that is in the beginning stages of accepting women as the worthy human beings that they are, it is our responsibility as the women collective to ensure that these emerging rules apply to all women of all backgrounds.
Disability included.
Feminism alone is not enough. Intersectional feminism is the way of the future.
Over the weekend, I hit 30,000 followers on Instagram.
Now, numbers aren't everything; but for a visibly disabled woman who fights every day for better representation, this felt HUGE!
Not only have I surpassed a personal goal of mine from 2021, but I also have proof that people around the world ARE INTERESTED in seeing authentic body representation on their screens every day.
Disability is the future of diverse media, and I am so excited to be a leader in this particular space.
I really look like I’m about to spill ALL of the tea in this picture 👀
And if you keep reading, I sort of am 😬
I get asked a LOT about how I manage to stay so upbeat and confident as a disabled person online.
There are a lot of ways I could answer this question, but I think I’ll let the legendary Serena van der Woodsen start us off…
“Don’t let people tell you who you are. You tell them.”
If you don’t like the story society has placed on you, it’s time to pick up the pen and write your own.
Learning to let people’s opinions of you take a backseat isn’t easy. I struggle with it everyday. But the minute that you put your own heart, mind, and soul in the driver’s seat is the minute you’ll start feeling like the best version of yourself.
Unfortunately, this feeling won’t last indefinitely. Even the most confident of people have moments where they falter.
So you’re going to have to chase it. You can train your brain to be aware of negative thoughts, it just takes time.
But I promise you, this feeling, it’s worth the effort✨
Here’s to a year that taught me that even little ole disabled me can follow my wildest dreams ❤️
To be a working model, actress, and creator is literally like living in my own little fairytale. And, no, not because it’s glamorous. In fact, often it’s the exact opposite.
The pay, (when there is pay 😅) is low. The hours are long. And the competition is high.
But ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved to perform. And up until this year, I didn’t really know if someone like me could make it as a professional in this industry.
I’m so beyond grateful for everyone who has given me a chance to do what I love.
From my agency, to my family, to every creative team that has booked me for a job, to all of you who follow, read, and support the silly but important posts that I make.
You all have made this year one to remember, even on the darkest of days.
Thank you and I look forward to what’s to come in 2022! 👀😏
