This weekend is Zadushnitsa — Bulgaria’s Day of the Dead — a time to remember and honour those who’ve gone before us. Walking through the cemetery felt peaceful and a little haunting, surrounded by autumn leaves
Back home, the smell of woodsmoke and pumpkin soup filled the house — a comforting reminder of the beauty in simple, quiet moments. 🎃

We are having an Indian summer here in Bulgaria, which is very similar to an English summer in temperature. We are still harvesting our fruits and vegetables. Today we are making some cherry brandy from our sour cherries. We are allso bottling our red wine vinegar from our grapes. We had a great night out last night! I thought I would share what a typical night out looks like here in Bulgaria. There’s always music and dancing. Children are welcome – they stay up late and join in. There’s never any rowdiness, drunkenness or disorderly behaviour everyone is friendly. And no one feels alone when dancing because everyone joins hands and makes one big circle. It really is a lovely night
