Hey all!

Next scene managment video will be uploaded soon. The end of the semester and holidays have made life a little busy. Thank you for the patience!

In other words, I did manage to find some time to make a game for the 20 Second Game Jam on itch, feel free to check it out if you want: billz-devs.itch.io/squared-up-20-second

Hey all,

A few of the platformer videos lost their audio so I will be reuploading those today. The debugging video will still release tomorrow!

Hey all!

Next video on the Scene Manager should be out this weekend or next.

Additionally, the channel just got monetized so I've added some perks and will be adding membership via a Patreon in the future. Additionally, I might reupload some videos that need music changes, so if it looks like a video was reuploaded that is why.

Thank you all for the support and keep on coding!

Hey All!

Good news, the video for grabbing and throwing objects is being uploaded as we speak! Thank you all for your patience. Moving forward I am going to try and release a video the first Saturday of the month.

Also, I was having some serious technical issues with the Discord server, so I deleted it and am in the process of making a new one, so stay tuned for that!

Also, THANK YOU for the 1k subs!!! That is a huge landmark and I am so grateful for all that you have done.

Where have I been? I'm sure that is a question a lot of you have asked.

Life is crazy right now--my wife and I had a kid and I am studying to be a doctor and school has gotten crazy with massive board exams coming up in a few months.

I love making videos about Godot and game dev and I want to continue to do so! Given my life state and need to focus on family and school studies, video making has taken a back seat. I hope to be able to release a video every month or so. I still have lots of video ideas and projects that I have been working on when I can, and I am very excited about them.

My itch has gotten some updates! I have uploaded the code for grabbing, carrying, and throwing objects. I hope to get the video for that released in the next few weeks. I also hope to release a video to start a top-down series! I also just uploaded a very basic asset pack for platformer games! I was practicing pixel art and decided to bust out a basic asset pack as a way to practice, so go check it out!

Thank you for your patience and understanding as the channel slows down in the coming months while I need to focus on family and school! Stay tuned on the channel as content will continue, just at a slower pace.

Also, THANK YOU for the 1k subs!!! That is a huge landmark and I am so grateful for all that you have done.

Keep on coding and making great games!

Hello Dev Squad!

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and are looking forward to the new year!

I wanted to give some updates on the channel. First, the next video is on more platform types, specifically one-way platforms, breaking platforms, and bouncy platforms. The video may be split into a few shorter videos, but either way I hope to have the video(s) released this weekend of the beginning of next week.

Second, I am going to make a few changes to the itch page. Up to this point, the resources and code have all been free. From now on, the assets (any images, sounds, etc). will be free to download but the actual source code and project files will be paid. I highly value free learning resources for game dev and I feel like the free assets and the free YouTube videos you can watch and code along with allow anyone to learn for free. Paying for the source code and project files is a way to get the code faster if you want and it helps support the channel.

Third, we are so close to 500 subscribers! We should totally reach our goal of 500 subscribers by the end of the year. I have been working on a game development focused Discord that I think I will release if we hit 500 subscribers. After that, the next major milestone will be 1,000 subs! Maybe we will do a live stream to celebrate that milestone, who knows?

Anyways, I have lots of fun ideas for future videos. The next several will still focus on platformer mechanics and then we will branch out to some other topics. Once again, thank you all for the support and positive feedback, it helps to keep me motivated!

Hello Dev Squad!

I wanted to reach out and give you all some updates:

First, we are 175 subscribers away from our goal of 500 by the end of the year, so we can totally reach it! You can help us reach that goal by liking and commenting on videos to get the algorithm to show them to more people. You can share the videos on the web, in Discord channels, etc. You can even have your fellow dev friends or family members check out the channel and subscribe! I appreciate any efforts you make to help us reach this goal.

Second, the next video is still in the works and progressing well. I was hoping to have it out this weekend, but with the Thanksgiving holiday here in the US I have been travelling and spending time with family, which will always come first. I hope to have the video out by next weekend, so stay tuned!

Third, I want to hear your input on what other platformer concepts we could explore in these videos. This may not guarantee that I make a video on the topic, but I would love your input! You can put your suggestions on this google form: forms.gle/FRSyPEoe8tWcF8vR7

Finally, thank you all for your support and positive feedback--it is very motivating to have such positive interactions with you all. It makes me want to keep working hard to produce videos. I have lots of video ideas planned (many of which are on non-platformer game mechanics) and I will continue to work hard to make them to the best of my abilities. Once again, thank you so much for all your support!

Keep on Coding!

Hello Dev Squad!

The latest video in the platformer mechanics series was released yesterday and the number of views and feedback has been wonderful! Thank you all so much for your kind comments and support, it means a lot and helps me to stay motivated on making videos. The next two videos will be: 1) wall slide, grab, and climb followed by 2) dashing (with some added visual juice to make it look and feel cool). I have several more videos planned for the series, so make sure to stay tuned!

On a separate note, there are a few more weeks before the end of the year, so let's try and get to 500 subscribers!

Once again, thank you all for the support and keep making games!
