Four-year-old Javeayah Harris was reported missing from her Aiken, South Carolina home on June 30, but investigators now say she was likely already dead before that 911 call was made. Her parents, Johmarea Harris and Michilae Herring, have been charged with homicide by child abuse, and Herring also faces a false police report charge. Authorities say both parents confessed, and the case shifted from a missing child search to a heartbreaking homicide investigation.
Now there has been a devastating update: Sheriff Marty Sawyer says remains believed to be Javeayah’s were found in Cedar Creek Reservoir. DNA testing reportedly shows the remains are the child of the two parents. Investigators also allege there were deliberate efforts to conceal what happened after her death. This case has shaken the Aiken community, and now the focus turns to justice for Javeayah.
