CDF Appoints New Deputy Commander of the UPDF Land Forces

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations (SPA/SO) General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has promoted Brigadier General Joseph Musoke Ssemwanga to the rank of Major General and appointed him the Deputy Commander of the UPDF Land Forces. The appointment took effect in December 2025 after Major General Takirwa fell ill.

Major General Ssemwanga replaces Major General Francis Takirwa (RIP) who passed away this morning after illness. He was until recently the Contingent Commander of UPDF troops serving under the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM). Before his deployment to Somalia towards the end of 2024, Major General Ssemwanga served as the 1st Infantry Division Commander with headquarters at Kakiri, Wakiso District.

Mawokota South MP Yusuf Nsibambi (FDC) has disconnected electricity from a village in his constituency after suffering a heavy defeat in the recent elections.

Nsibambi says the electricity was connected using his own money. He adds that voters should learn to appreciate the efforts made by their leaders.

He has also warned residents to stop criticizing him, threatening to burn the transformer, which he claims he also purchased with his personal funds.

Didier Drogba : "When Messi, I and some of the players did an ad for a beverage company before the 2010 World Cup, Messi met some people in a remote village in the African forest , played football with them, but in the end he said to me in a serious tone, "Didier, do you see that these people drink dirty water while we play for millions of euros?" The Uganda National Bureau of Standards ( #UNBS) has seized about 4,964 litres of #fake & #substandard paints worth Shs74.46 million during a surveillance operation at the Naiga Complex in downtown Kampala. The team found 6 certified brands being faked.
