I quit my high six figure corporate job earlier this year.
Reason? I spent a lifetime thinking about telling and filming stories.
I've watched my favourite documentary filmmakers for years while aspiring to do the same myself. Every year, the package got bigger and the comfort of a steady life took over.
In the beginning of this year it hit me like a truck. I lost a close friend who I had made a promise to that I'd take him on a trip to the mountains when I finally make it as a filmmaker.
I put down my papers in a week, finished my notice period. Arranged my finances to support myself for a year. Started researching, scripting, learning to edit and shoot. I had made videos before half heartedly in gaps but it was time to do it right.
May 2, I uploaded my first true crime documentary and I didn't stop this time, I followed through. 1 month later, I entered the TOP 200 Podcasts chart of Spotify India.
The same chart my favourite documentary filmmakers, the people who inspired me to follow my passion. (While they are at the top and I'm at the bottom, being in the same chart as them means a lot to me)
This isn't a success story, it's a reminder that sometimes it's worth taking the risk. If life gives you a chance, take it.
To the ones who have watched my show already, thank you. It means the world to me. To the ones who are yet to watch my documentaries, give it a shot, I promise to keep working towards being a little better with each upload.
