Even though authenticity, accountability, vulnerability, and REAL compassion and hope for others may appear, at times, to be lost societal artifacts....

Welcome to this channel of 'RE'discovery for the 'RE'introduction of the aforementioned priceless and absolutely invaluable gifts, which are necessary for the longevity of our existence! 🙌🏾

Yesterday was not the best. It was a day where my mind continuously drifted back to a difficult, traumatizing, and mentally taxing season.

I was unable to get it together.
I had bouts of uncontrollable crying, and it was hard to breathe.
I wailed aloud to Abba, “Please help me, please help me!”
I repeatedly cried aloud, “It’s not like before.”
I messaged others to pray for me since the capacity was absent to do it for myself.
I remained in bed all day emotionally exhausted.

I underestimated the impact breast cancer surgeries from over a decade ago would have on me today.

I underestimated the emotional snipers coming for me through the words spoken by others.
I shall not take on their projected, ignorant words of ‘shame’ or ‘selfishness.’
It is okay to express my needs. I am acquainted with the old, prideful ways of Tamika who’d not ask for help.
I know they’re probably experiencing compassion fatigue or caregiver burnout.
Nonetheless, it’s still hurtful.

I underestimated the emotional snipers coming for me through the words spoken by others.

“Oh, well at least you have new boobies!”
Pause, breath Tamika. They are oblivious to the ignorance of their words and mindset.
Educate them at this moment; she doesn’t even know what a double mastectomy is.
Nonetheless, it’s still hurtful.

With surgery in 5 days, the residue of an array of emotions have resurfaced…

The absence of people you thought would be there, yet they weren’t…
The tiresome, heavy armor others place on you when they say “Be Strong”...
The guilt of Survivor’s Remorse because you’re alive, when others aren’t…

Even in the midst of all this, I have absolutely zero regrets. I would keep every aspect of this breast cancer journey. I unashamedly embrace my humanity expressed through emotions. I unashamedly embrace my lifestyle as a disciple of Jesus Christ— my foundation in the midst of any struggle, hence why my internal joy is unshakeable.

This is why “Conquer The Fight of Life” was written… to aid those impacted by a diagnosis of breast cancer— no matter what stage of the diagnosis voyage.

I unashamedly and transparently express Tamika L. Herbert because it is a means of encouragement to empower, equip, and embolden others.

Let's have a real conversation....

Did you, or someone you know, experience the death of your parent/guardian before the age of 13?

As a 13 year old child, I was greatly impacted by my momma's death from cancer when I was that young. Yet, an outlet to grieve and process that devastating loss of her was never presented. Over three decades passed before healing, and real acknowledgment began......

A change is required for our children. They have emotions and feelings, too.

I am honored to serve as one of the panelists this year where the discussion shall focus upon cancer treatment impact on families, children, and guidelines to be healthier - mind, body, and spirit.

The conversation doesn't end after the panel discussion; it's just getting started...... 🩷

#ThoughtProvokingThursday 🤔
Within the past week, I obtained access to verbiage that greatly shifted my perspective. It challenged me to reflect even deeper... specifically when it comes to business. Yet, it also greatly impacts me as a person in general.

The push is a pivot....

It can be difficult to pivot when we feel that 'feeling' in the pit of our stomachs. 😩

Evolution and growth are magnificent things. Let's not stay stuck and stagnant to that (or people), which no longer serve us towards the evolved version of ourselves.

Where have you been wresting with a push, yet know it's time to pivot? 🫡

Uploading ✌🏾.....................

A breast cancer diagnosis was never something I signed up for — I certainly wasn’t out here kicking down doors screaming, “Pick me! Pick me! ” But what tried to destroy me ultimately empowered me.

I’m honored to serve as a 2025 Give Back Grant Ambassador for the Keep A Breast Foundation, alongside other #BreastCancerWarrior Ambassadors. This is just one of the many ways my cancer journey has been transformed into a purpose-driven mission to infuse hope and create impact abroad.

Back in 2016, I was introduced to one of the foundation’s unique fundraising methods — breast casts! Yes, you read that right: a physical cast of your chest, later transformed into art and auctioned off to raise funds. That experience launched me into a new dimension of confidence, aiding to share my voice more boldly. 💪🏾

What makes Keep A Breast truly stand out is its action in addressing the disparities BIPOC communities — especially Black/African-American women — face in breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and care. Since 2020, the Give Back Grant (KAB-GBG) has provided direct financial support to BIPOC women across the U.S. I was honored to serve on the very first grant selection committee, where 16 women each received a $500 grant.

Yesterday — May 1st — the disbursement of $100,000 in grants to even more women commenced!
Here’s what makes the KAB Give Back Grant so powerful:
✔️ No strings attached.
✔️ Use it however you need: medical expenses, a staycation, a massage, a wig, bills, or simply something that brings joy.
✔️ It's about dignity, autonomy, and real support — because cancer takes enough already.

🎉 Congratulations to all 2025 recipients! 🎉

If you or someone you know could benefit from this opportunity in the future for the 2026 cycle:
🩷 Share this with BIPOC women in your network
🩷 Learn more and donate at: www.keep-a-breast.org/kab-give-back-grants
🩷 Encourage your company or organization to contribute — let’s expand the impact together!

As a former recipient, I know firsthand the difference this grant can make. It may not seem like much to some — but to someone fighting for their life, it’s everything.

I AGAPE YOU! 🩷

Jamaica 2004- I was on a high point and challenged to just fall back in the water. It was part of the tour guide experience, yet I was NOT about that life!

🗣 They asked....What's the problem?

😳 I said... SERIOUSLY⁉️

👉🏾 On the other side of complacency is opportunity!

🤔 What are you comfortably complacent in, hence missing opportunities?

🙌🏾 I gained the OPPORTUNITY of that EXPERIENCE‼️

The question I tend to ask myself to get to the REAL motive of my words or actions is....WHY??

Do I get it right each time...HECK to the NO!

Doing the right thing, for the right reasons, is at times lonesome and hard....

But the outcome shall be... 🔥🔥🔥

I thought back to a crucial moment in life where I went into protective mode - breast cancer. I could sense the reaction some would have with my diagnosis, and that wouldn't have been healthy for me.

Recently, another critical moment was before me. This time, I miscalculated and failed to go into protective mode the way it was needed. I failed to recognize the detrimental magnitude of others' perspectives, whom I deemed trustworthy. It greatly impacted my clarity and planted seeds of confusion and doubt. It hasn't been healthy for me, yet it's been a whirlwind of phenomenal lessons.....
