YELLOW FLOWER TRAVEL

Travel is for everyone — every sight, every sound, every texture, and every scent.

To mark Deafblind Awareness Week 2026, we are celebrating the beauty of multi-sensory travel and the importance of making the world more accessible for everyone.

As Helen Keller beautifully said:
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much”.

At Yellow Flower Travel, we believe exploring the world should have no barriers. This week, we are shining a spotlight on incredible destinations, sensory experiences, museums, gardens, hotels, and cultural spaces across the globe that are helping make travel more inclusive for the deafblind and dual sensory loss community.

We are proud to work alongside travellers, venues, and guides to help create more inclusive and meaningful experiences worldwide.

YELLOW FLOWER TRAVEL

Every journey begins with a single step of confidence.
Today, we are taking a quiet pause on our usual travel updates to celebrate the fathers, father figures, and mentors who help build that foundational confidence.
Navigating the world isn't just about reading a map; it is about having the resilience to handle the unexpected, the curiosity to explore new horizons, and the strength to carve out your own unique path.

To the dads and mentors who act as protectors, encouragers, and steadfast guides out on the open road:
Wishing you a very happy and peaceful Father’s Day. 💛

“We see your ticket, but we do not see you”.

For Learning Disability Week, Nora, Co-Founder of Yellow Flower Travel, reflects on the experiences of travellers living with invisible conditions and the barriers that often go unnoticed.

Accessibility is about more than physical access. It is about understanding, belonging, and ensuring lived experience has a place at the decision-making table.

Today is Autistic Pride Day. ♾️🌻

Autistic Pride Day is a celebration of autistic people, autistic perspectives, and the many different ways people experience, understand, and interact with the world.

At Yellow Flower Travel, we believe there is no single “right” way to travel.

Some travellers seek routine.
Some seek spontaneity.
Some need quiet spaces.
Some experience destinations through sensory details others might miss.
Some see the world from entirely different perspectives.

And those differences are something to value, not change.

Today we celebrate autistic people around the world and recognise the creativity, insight, resilience, and unique perspectives they bring to our communities.

Because inclusive travel begins with understanding that every traveller experiences a journey differently.

🌻 Different perspectives. Different journeys. Equal welcome.

Today is Neurodiversity Pride Day. 🌻

Neurodiversity Pride Day celebrates the many different ways people think, learn, communicate, process information, and experience the world.

The concept of neurodiversity recognises that neurological differences are a natural part of human diversity.

At Yellow Flower Travel, we know that travel is not a one-size-fits-all experience.

Some travellers seek routine.
Some seek adventure.
Some need quiet spaces.
Some communicate differently.
Some experience destinations through a unique sensory lens.

And that’s something worth celebrating.

Today we recognise and celebrate the strengths, perspectives, creativity, and contributions of neurodivergent people around the world.

Because inclusive travel starts with understanding that there is no single “right” way to experience a journey.

🌻 Different minds. Different journeys. Equal welcome.

Is the CBeebies Land Hotel a sensory-friendly haven or complete sensory overload?

We stayed at the Alton Towers Resort hotel to break down exactly how accessible, wheelchair-friendly, and neuro-inclusive it is for families. From genius accessibility hacks (like a literal mute button for the loud elevator music!) to the intense visual stimulus of the main lobby, we are sharing our honest review from the Yellow Flower Travel lens. đź’›

Inside the video, we cover:
âś… The safety perks of their strict guest lanyard system.
âś… Why the enclosed show area is a game-changer for neurodivergent children.
âś… The exact room layouts (and interactive wall puzzles!).
❌ The sensory triggers to watch out for during peak hours.

Whether you are planning a trip or looking for accessible UK staycations, don't miss our full review and top survival tips!

Imagine arriving at a busy airport terminal or a major city train station.

For most people, the experience is simple: check the departures board, grab a coffee, and head straight through the gate.

But for a travel companion supporting someone with physical or neurodivergent access needs, the picture can and often looks entirely different. Their eyes are constantly scanning the landscape for environmental triggers most travellers never notice.

A companion recently shared an experience from a major UK transport hub. The assistance desk was placed directly next to a loud, chaotic baggage carousel. While trying to arrange a boarding ramp, the companion had to physically shield their neurodivergent partner from the intense noise and flashing lights, turning a routine booking into an incredibly stressful balancing act.

This can be the daily reality of the carer experience out on the road. Constantly acting as the shield, the planner, and the coordinator —absorbing the friction of an unaccommodating world so their partner can safely experience the joy of discovery.

True accessibility isn’t just a physical checklist. It is about creating spaces that anticipate these challenges and smoothly integrate support, ensuring that the heavy lifting doesn’t always fall on the companion’s shoulders.

May we all become more aware of the invisible journeys happening right alongside our own. đź’›

Caring doesn’t stop at the front door.

For millions of carers, the daily journey of supporting someone with neurodivergent or physical access needs involves constant navigation, planning, and overcoming unnecessary hurdles out in public.

This #CarersWeek, the focus is all about Building Carer Friendly Communities. For the travel, transport, and tourism sectors, this means looking beyond basic regulations.

True community accessibility requires meaningful training so that transport hubs, hotels, and visitor attractions understand and anticipate a carer’s needs before they arrive. Our communities and travel networks must actively support carers, rather than adding to their daily challenges.

To the carers working tirelessly every single day to open up the world for someone else:

We see you.
We appreciate you.
Thank you.

As inclusive travel consultants and trainers, we are committed to helping the travel industry create welcoming spaces where carers never have to navigate the world alone.

Today is Tourette’s Awareness Day. 💙

Tourette Syndrome is often misunderstood, and many people still face assumptions, judgement, or unwanted attention because of their tics.

At Yellow Flower Travel, we believe inclusion starts with understanding. A welcoming journey is not just about ramps, lifts, or accessible facilities. It is also about creating environments where people feel accepted, respected, and able to be themselves.

A tic is not a choice.
A person is more than their diagnosis.
And everyone deserves to explore the world without fear of judgement.

Today, we stand with the Tourette community and celebrate the diversity that makes our world richer.

🌻 Different journeys. Different experiences. Equal welcome.
