Hi all! Sorry for the radio silence for a bit and sorry for the word salad thats about to come because its pretty much me rambling.
I kind of just hit a hard wall with D&D content and have been trying to reinvent myself and really figure out what my actual goals are. When I started this channel I never really had any goals other than "have fun and make fun stuff" but after a while it felt like I fell into the classic youtube hole of chasing views. One successful "Top 5" video lead to another and ultimatley had me chasing that high by repeating that same format and honestly it stopped being about fun and all about views. It took me a while to realize it, but when I did it felt super disheartening.
I had the most fun probably writing and creating Beyond the Statblock and Beyond the Spellbook with my homebrew stuff but they took by far the most amount of time and effort to create with not even a fraction of the views. I was paying artists and editors for videos that really didn't pay off and it was completley unsustainable not only financially, but mentally. Seeing the thing you enjoy creating failing comparatively to the "big buzz words short attention span quick quick wowowoweewow top 5 tier lists" really just got to me and I burnt out.
I don't really have a point to what im trying to say I just wanted to share where I'm at. I'm doing some soul searching to figure out what I want and thats kind of it. I enjoy creating, I enjoy rolling dice, I enjoy my friends (Big shout out to @JNJTabletop yall kept me sane through this whole journey, love you guys go subscribe to them if you haven't they are literally the best people I have ever met on not only on youtube but in general), but I know I cannot maintain the kind of content that this channel has found success with.
I don't know where I will end up but I felt I should share this with you all. I'll probably come back to making simple content focused around the creation process, the statblocks, the spellbooks, and with much less flashy editing that you might be used to from my older videos.
Anyways, rambling done, thank you all for coming to my ted talk. I love you all, keep creating, keep having fun, and hopefully I'll see you soon!
You may have noticed some changes lately regarding video types and upload schedule. My editor (Qunicy who is an editing monster) and I are working hard to nail down the channel’s identity. Thanks for sticking with us! If you have any thoughts please let me know in the comments :D
