When those sky-high flight tickets cost more than my entire graduation ceremony, it's safe to say that a virtual graduation is the solution I need!😂

I've reached yet another significant milestone in my academic journey. Though I may not be physically present at the commencement ceremony, my heart swells with pride and joy in celebrating this accomplishment. There were moments when I questioned my ability to see this journey through, but with unwavering faith and divine guidance, I triumphed. Deep gratitude fills me for all those who have supported and accompanied me during this incredible adventure, helping me attain the pinnacle of my academic pursuits. Xiexie and Zaijian, Taiwan!

Embracing the opportunity to live and work in Taiwan is something for which I will forever be thankful. My adventure unfolded when I set foot on the captivating island for an interview and teaching demonstration at a cram school in Taoyuan City. My life took a fortunate turn when I secured the job, marking the beginning of my incredible journey. Driven by dreams of providing financial stability to my family in the Philippines—something my homeland could not fully offer—I withstand homesickness and combat discrimination as a non-native English speaker.

I now understand why "OFWs" are hailed as modern-day heroes. Though we may lack superpowers to save the world, we can make a profound difference for our loved ones back home. With perseverance, we can liberate our families from hunger, provide for their everyday needs, and support them in realizing their aspirations.

Teaching in Taiwan is far from a bed full of roses, but it is a road littered with thorns. Every day demands that I face battles and shoulder immense responsibilities. As I grapple with stress, pressure, and adversity, I have no choice but to stand tall amid these challenges by relying on my inner strength. It might sound cliché, but I just want to pat myself and say, "'You did well, and I'm proud of you.'" I am eternally grateful to God; without His divine guidance, my journey would have been impossible.

As I celebrate four years and five months of living and teaching English on this enriching island full of challenges and triumphs alike, my heart grows heavy because it's time to bid farewell to the land that has become my second home. Taiwan—the heart of Asia—has captured a special place in my heart. Profound gratitude overflows as I reflect on everyone who touched my life here: cherished students, colleagues, and friends; may destiny reunite us again.

To those aspiring teachers considering a new path, remember that leaving your current profession doesn't signify dissatisfaction or disloyalty; rather, it heralds a fresh start. May you experience the boundless possibilities that lie within Taiwan's shores and may fortune fulfill your heart's desires.

Taiwan, in my heart, remains countless precious memories we've shared. They shall be cherished throughout my lifetime. With humility and pride, I now sign off as a foreign English teacher in this beautiful land. Thank you, Taiwan!
