ICYMI: India’s FIU-IND has asked major crypto exchanges to share detailed data on all OTC cryptocurrency deals above ₹9.44 lakh (~$10,000).
-Following a meeting at the end of May 2026, the agency is focusing on these off-market trades due to concerns over ownership transparency, hard-to-trace beneficial owners, preferential large withdrawals to external wallets, and potential AML blind spots. Exchanges must preserve such records since January 2026.
-OTC deals are negotiated directly between the platform and clients, shielding large transactions from market volatility.
-Once withdrawn, assets can move freely anywhere, leaving exchanges with limited control despite enhanced due diligence.
