Spiritual Purpose of a Maraca in Your Altar Space

•Activation of Energy (Aṣẹ):

The sound of the maraca awakens spirits, Orisha, or ancestors.

Shaking it is believed to move spiritual energy and call in presence during rituals, prayers, or offerings.

•Communication Tool:

The vibration from the maraca acts as a messenger between realms—your physical and spiritual guides can "hear" the call.

Especially for Eleguá/Eshu, the maraca is used to alert the gatekeeper of the crossroads that ritual work is beginning
