Taking Starship Troopers back to DragonCon for a group meetup Friday. While I like my foam helmet I got a resin cast kit from my friend Shawn Thorssen. Yesterday I started assembling it by removing the flashing and wet sanding the surface to minimize mold lines.
From there I painted it the correct color and sprayed the clear coat in a way to give it the texture I wanted. It has been fun working with resin again, especially since that’s all I did before I got into foam fabrication years ago.

Continuing my Artillery Witch build. After sanding for an eternity I coated the helmet with a layer of krylon Black Primer and rustoleum Flat Soft Iron. This will provide a great base color for hand painting and weathering.

I know this one isn’t foam but i did use foam inside the helmet 😂 you all know i’m constantly showing finishing techniques in my videos. For the Jannisarrie helmet I wanted to go with more of an authentic metal look so I’m adding Gold Leaf. This extremely delicate material will adhere to the glue I brushed onto the surface.
