ALBUM ANNOUNCEMENT - "CRITTERS AND THE COSMOS" - 8/15
In 2021, my home was flooded by Hurricane Ida, and I lost most of what I owned. I spent the next six months sleeping on the floor of my brother-in-law's home office, unable to work on music at all. It was a very hard time in my life. You, my fans, really came through for me when that flood hit, and with your help, I was able to get my life back together.
For that I am eternally grateful.
In 2022, once my family and I had a home again, I was able to start making music, and I began a series of compositions about the stars (REDEMPTIO LUNAE, and LIGHT ESCAPING FROM AN EXPLODING STAR, as you may recall) - instrumental pieces about mourning and hope that were always intended to complement one another.
But in the back of my mind, was the loss of the incomplete works that the flood had destroyed. A hard drive that contained active project files for a concept album - a series of animal-themed compositions - was, for me, one of the big casualties of Hurricane Ida.
A few months ago, I discovered salvageable files, and was able to recover enough of these lost works to reconstruct them. Immediately, I threw myself into completing orchestrations, mixing old tracks, and remastering previous releases for the purpose of creating one solid album that fuses my cosmos-themed instrumentals with my animal-themed instrumentals into a single, flowing musical narrative.
CRITTERS AND THE COSMOS evolves from contemplations about the frantic energy of the stars to a celebration of the chaotic beauty of life, and I'm very excited to share it with you.
Every Thursday, starting 8/15, I'm doing one You Tube release from the album, starting with WE ALL BECOME CRABS IN THE END - an absolutely insane composition for orchestra, banjo, wooden flute, accordion, theremin, guitar, and choir.
