Here at Japanese Food Craftsman, we feature delicious food and the stories of restaurant owners from all over Japan!
How did our journey start?
We witnessed neighborhood stores we had visited since childhood closing down, and other long-established restaurants slowly fading away. We started to wonder if there wasn't something we could do to preserve this part of the Japanese culture.
What was it that we could do?
We started sharing the charm of these restaurants with the whole world. So that people would remember them. And perhaps again go out of their way to pay a visit.
What will the future bring?
Even 100 years from now on, we hope for Japans nostalgic and beautiful scenery to remain the same.
And we hope that these videos will give all of you the energy you need for tomorrow.

Holiday Greetings! You may have noticed some of our uploads have been coming out a little irregular lately. However, this is for a good reason. We have been working hard behind the scenes to find some great places to share with you and offer better, longer and more in depth documentaries of the places we feature on this channel. We have been lucky to film some amazing places that have allowed us to go back and film with them more than once but securing filming permission for locations to put on YouTube is quite difficult! We do our best to try and not cover the same places that other youtubers are filming and bring you the best original content. With that in mind we're hard at work filming a rather interesting episode that we will be sharing on the channel soon. Here are some behind the scenes pics of our shoot from today!

The owner looks tough with his tattoos, but runs an incredible burger shop!
We filmed here about a year ago, and ever since then, the place has been packed with customers from overseas!
They’ve hired more staff, and the shop is changing little by little.
This time, we came back to hear how things have evolved!

The yatai is run by a 25-year-old male chef, who moved from Kanagawa to Fukuoka with no connections at all.
Using the skills he gained at an architectural design firm, he designed the entire yatai himself — and built it together with his family.
From the carefully prepared dishes to the warm, minimalist space, every detail reflects his dedication and creativity.

Robata, the birthplace of robata in Kushiro, Hokkaido. The restaurant seats 20 and has a central hearth. The atmospheric space is run by an 89-year-old proprietress!
