Video out NOW!

An unexpected tent test 🌬️

Join me on my Newlands Horseshoe adventure in the Lake District featuring a summit wild camp on Robinson.

The weather was stunning all day and I managed to capture the Lake District in all its glory.

However, the wind came from nowhere and gathered pace throughout the night. This was not forecast, but ended up giving the new Nortent Varde 1 a wind test.

I had the best time, hope you enjoy the video 👍

Summit camping in the Lake District tonight. The weather has been great all day, but all of a sudden, strong gusts have come from nowhere. Looks like the tent may be given an unexpected test!

I've seen a huge rise in RED tents being used outside of winter and it's become a trend on social media to use red tents to make your images stand out. They look cool, but they're not exactly stealthy, and they could be drawing unwanted attention to the wild camping community.

Should people use RED tents for wild camping outside of winter?

🚨 Bargain Alert 🚨

Just $71 plus shipping for a proper 4 season sleeping pad. It also gives you a further 20% discount on their tents.

Long, wide, deep and an R-Value of 7.

My No.1 lesson over this winter was to use a proper deep winter sleeping pad. Until you try one, you won’t believe much much warmer a high R—Value pad is.

Remember, I’m not an affiliate, so I don’t earn commission and I don’t get paid either, this is just an offer too good to miss. I doubt they’ll last long.

No clickbait, just my true thoughts and feelings, unfiltered.

For those who watched my Durston X-Dome 1+ review video in full, you'll know I was extremely positive about the new Gen 2 Durston X Dome backpacking tent. However, the vast majority of the comments on the video related to the Gen 1 version which were misleading to viewers. Having used the tent again on my latest video, I remain very positive of the latest version. Check out my latest wild camping video to see it in action here https://youtu.be/LJeFzv8Q_VY

The truth is, despite the comments made, the overwhelming majority were in favour of the review (approx. 95%). Don't look too much into negative comments on any video on any channel as they are often a minority view.

In the video I also praised the new Gen 3 Durston X-Mid. I was extremely unpopular in my original Durston X Mid video after saying the headspace wasn't sufficient enough. Despite getting trolled, Durston's new Gen 3 X Mid has more head space. I guess I wasn't wrong after all.

I've got some more tent reviews lined up the next month or so. Personally, I don't really want to dumb-down the highs and lows because they are my true thoughts and feelings. Just remember though, my videos are based on my knowledge, experience and personal preferences. Remember to seek out other reviews too to get a fully rounded and balanced opinion.

Lastly, my reviews are always made in good faith. YouTube is just something I do in addition to my demanding full-time job, so I'm not trying to make a salary or become famous, I'm doing this to help others and promote backpacking. I hope this is acknowledged.

Cheers, Andy.
