TOCAA AMSUL is a student-led organization that is affiliated to the Nigerian Medical Students Association (NiMSA) and its Technical Office on Cancer Awareness and Advocacy(TOCAA) We are dedicated to raising awareness and advocating for meaningful change in the fight against cancer. Our mission is centered around improving cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment options through a combination of education, outreach, and active engagement. We aim to empower individuals and communities with knowledge about cancer, its risks, and how they can take proactive steps in their health. Our group brings together medical students of the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos to collaborate, spread awareness, and support initiatives that make a tangible difference in the lives of all who are or can be affected by cancer. Join us as we work through education & advocacy, to create a world where cancer is better understood, more preventable, and more treatable for all.

Welcome to #December 🎄

A Month of Light, Love, Sharing and Advocacy

December arrives with lights aglow and cheer,

A sacred month to close the year.
Yet amidst the carols and celebration,
We honor Cancer Fatigue Awareness with dedication.
The lavender ribbon reminds us to stand,
With warriors weary, hand in hand.

So let us weave compassion with festive grace,
Supporting every fighter in this sacred space.

🎗 It is Stomach Chancer Awareness Day
Today, we shine a light on stomach cancer. The stomach is one of the organs of the digestive system and is responsible for digestion and storage of food.

Stomach cancer is a disease that can develop slowly over time, with symptoms often not appearing until later stages.

It is more common in older men and is linked to factors like H. pylori infection, diet, and genetics.

A healthy diet and prompt treatment of H. pylori infection can help reduce one’s risk greatly.

Happy New Month from #TOCAA AMSUL 🌸

#October is #PinkMonth 🎀
A time to unite in the fight against #breastcancer. 💗

Do You Know?
> 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
> It’s the most common cancer among women worldwide (about 25% of female cancers). 🌍
> Early detection through screening boosts survival rates up to 90%! 🕑
> Women 40+ are advised to get annual mammograms. 👩‍⚕
> Healthy habits (exercise, diet, less alcohol) cut risks by ~30%.
> Men too can be affected (1 in 100 cases). 👨

This month, let’s spread knowledge & encourage screenings. Together, we can turn #Awareness into #Action.

Stay Informed. 🧠
Stay Empowered. 💪🏽
Stay Pink. 🎀

#Independence means nothing if our people are still held captive by ignorance and preventable diseases. This Independence Day, let’s unite beyond tribe, class, or religion to fight one common enemy; #cancer. With awareness, education, and early detection, we can save lives and secure a healthier Nigeria. Together, we can rewrite the story: from fear and silence to hope and action. True independence is health for all.
