I am a musician and a servant of God.
Hi, my name is Romel Pasetes. I play the piano and I enjoy making music using my keyboard. All instruments (drums, strings, flute, guitar, horns, etc.) you hear from my music were produced using my Yamaha keyboard and a software called Mixcraft. I'm not an expert. I'm actually "beginner" level when it comes to piano-playing. I just try to make the best out of what I have and hopefully entertain you, but more importantly, bring glory to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

There are no rewinds, no second chances, and no do-overs once you cross from this life into the next. Scripture never treats eternity as something adjustable or open-ended. It is fixed. Final. Forever. That reality should shake us to the core.
Jesus Himself gave a warning that runs completely against our comfort-loving culture. In Luke 6, He did not praise the wealthy, the satisfied, or the applauded. He warned them. “Woe to you who are rich, for you are receiving your comfort in full” (Luke 6:24). That is a frightening statement if we take it seriously. It means prosperity can be a payment, not a blessing. Comfort can be a consolation prize. Applause can be all you ever get.
If your success has made you casual about God, if your steady income, full refrigerator, or peaceful routine has dulled your sense of urgency, you are standing on the edge of something you cannot undo. Wealth has a way of numbing the soul. It convinces you that everything is fine when spiritually you may be drifting farther and farther from God. You eat well, sleep well, laugh often, and assume that must mean God is pleased. But Jesus says present ease can hide eternal danger.
Do not confuse a season of prosperity with spiritual safety. Earthly wealth is not proof that your soul is right with God. It is a temporary comfort that will vanish the moment your heart stops beating. Money will not cross the grave with you. Status will not speak for you. Comfort will not shield you from judgment.
What will matter then is not how successful you were, how admired you were, or how comfortable your life felt. What will matter is whether you were reconciled to God through Christ. Whether you repented. Whether you took your soul seriously while you still had time.
This life is not a rehearsal. Eternity is not a theory. Once you enter it, your current advantages will mean nothing, and your neglect cannot be reversed. This warning is not cruel. It is merciful. We are being told now because we still have breath in our lungs.
Let’s not waste it.

Imagine God’s Law is like a bright, perfect flashlight. The flashlight is good because it shows us the truth. However, if you shine that light into a dark, messy room, the light does not make the mess; it just reveals how dirty the room actually is. Our hearts are like that messy room. When God gives us a good rule, such as "Do not covet," our sinful hearts actually use that rule as an excuse to want things even more. It is like when someone says, "Don't think about a pink elephant," and suddenly that is all you can think about. Sin is so bad that it takes something holy and uses it to make us rebel even more.
The reason God lets this happen is to show us the truth about ourselves. He uses the Law to show us that sin is "sinful beyond measure," which means it is much worse than we thought. By showing us that we cannot even keep a good rule without wanting to break it, God is stripping away our pride. The Law is like a mirror that shows us our dirty faces so that we will realize we cannot wash ourselves. We have to run to Jesus Christ because if we try to do it on our own, we will eventually fail no matter how hard we try. Scripture says that if we break just one law, we have broken all of them (James 2:10). God’s standard is perfection. The only way we can achieve this is to have the righteousness of Christ given (imputed) to us. This is what Scripture promises to everyone who repents and believes in His work on the cross and His resurrection.

This verse teaches us a profound truth: the reason some hear the Gospel and understand, while others remain hardened, is not accidental. Jesus intentionally spoke in parables to reveal the truth to those whose hearts God had opened (the elect) and to confirm the judgment on those who willingly close their eyes. Spiritual sight is a precious gift of God's sovereign grace, not a natural ability. Let us pray that God grants us the hearing ear and the seeing eye to understand His Kingdom truths!

Are we truly submitting to Christ as King, or chasing cultural approval? A reflection on 1 Samuel 7–9 challenges us to choose God’s ways over the world’s.

I've been thinking about the direction this world is heading. Everywhere I look, people seem convinced that we’re becoming wiser, more advanced, more capable. And yet, the more the world celebrates its own “progress,” the farther it drifts from the God who is the very source of life. It’s almost ironic. The moment humanity begins to boast in its own brilliance is the same moment it reveals how blind it really is. Scripture already told us this would happen. “Professing to be wise, they became fools” (Romans 1:22). And isn’t that exactly what we’re seeing? People talk about enlightenment, but their hearts grow darker. They claim clarity, yet reject the only One who can give sight.
What’s tragic is that the world believes it can sustain life without the Giver of life. It believes it can define morality without the Lawgiver, find peace without the Prince of Peace, and create purpose without the Creator. But once you cut yourself off from the Source, death is not a distant threat—IT'S A PRESENT CONDITION. Jesus said it plainly: “Apart from Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). Not “less,” not “little”—NOTHING. Every step humanity takes in self-reliance instead of God-reliance is a step deeper into that nothingness. And that’s the part that weighs on me. Because no matter how sophisticated we appear on the outside, a soul disconnected from God is already dying on the inside.
As I reflect on these things, it’s not anger I feel but sadness. Because what we’re watching isn’t just moral decline; it’s spiritual starvation. People are trying to live without the only One who gives breath to their lungs and light to their path. It reminds me of what God said through Jeremiah: “For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, to hew for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns that can hold no water” (Jeremiah 2:13). That verse captures today perfectly. The world is thirsty, dying of thirst, yet keeps digging empty wells that cannot hold a single drop of real life.
And so I sit here, watching a world that believes it’s rising while Scripture shows it’s actually falling. It’s heartbreaking to see people convinced they’re stepping into freedom, even as sin quietly tightens its grip on their lives. And it weighs on me to see humanity chasing life in a thousand different directions, yet refusing the One who is life Himself. I can’t help but grieve, because if there is no life apart from God—and there isn’t—then every step this world takes away from Him is a step deeper into death.
The world will try to convince you that life is found in freedom, in progress, in your own ability, but it is all an illusion. True life can only be found in Him. Do not be fooled by the lies that promise freedom apart from God, because apart from Him there is no life.
