In a bid to cut down on endless scrolling and stop being a cash cow for network providers, I switched to the Always ON data plan. Honestly, it has changed my life in more ways than I expected.
Now, I only use my phone when necessary. I check social media briefly, engage with other creators, reply to comments, and then watch a few videos that interest me. Once my feed no longer shows me things that truly interest me, I exit immediately and move on to the next task.
Because I know the deal; if I misuse my allocated data for the day, I’ll be stuck with no internet later. That thought alone keeps me disciplined. No more endless scrolling that eats into my time and ruins my to-do list. These days, I’m more productive, my life feels more organised, and I actually get more things done than before.
I don’t know if I’m weird, but I actually created a folder to stash all my certificates from YouTube. I just got a new one this morning.
The number might look small to you, but I’m proud of it. Why? Because these views came from long-form videos, not shorts. And if you know… getting views on long-form is way harder than shorts, where the algorithm naturally pushes you out.
I’m just saving my dance steps for the day I finally hit 100 subscribers on YouTube 🫣
It takes me back to when I hit my first 100 followers on Facebook. I remember that day so vividly. I was accompanying my sister to visiting day at her daughter’s school (yes, I even vlogged it 😅).
That morning, I had 85 followers. As usual, I checked my analytics; my little ritual. I kept up my daily hustle for followers, sometimes gaining 2, sometimes 5 on very good days. Like droplets of water, they kept adding up.
By afternoon, I refreshed again and boom: an extra 10 followers! I can’t explain the joy. Smiles all over my face. Out of excitement, I turned to my sister and said: “I’m having this strong feeling I’ll reach 100 followers before today ends.”
“You mean 100k?” she asked, looking surprised. “No… I mean 100,” I corrected her.
She smiled mischievously, clearly not understanding why “just 100” meant so much. But I didn’t expect her to. If only she knew the sweat it takes to build that number from scratch.
If she ever starts content creation, I’ll be here to watch. Let her wear the shoes, feel the climb, and complain about followers. My little, petty revenge will be simply replying, "Now you know how it feels." 😇
Life so private nobody knows that the real reason I haven't dropped a new video here is because my data finished.
I misused my weekly data and it finished within just two days. Now I’m punishing myself by refusing to buy more till the week ends because I didn’t come to this world to hustle and then spend all my money subscribing to data. 😤
For the past three days, I’ve been surviving on midnight bundles, staying awake like an owl. Even this post you're reading was posted using Free Mode. Please check out any of my previous vlog videos and tell me what you think about them 🙏
I woke up this morning feeling guilty that I haven’t filmed in a while, so I promised myself today would be the day; no excuses. I even rushed home early from work because I know how long it takes me to film, at least 4 hours.
There was light, and I was tempted to relax and watch TV first, but you already know how it will end up if gave in, I might procastinate it to the next day. To get my energy up for the task ahead, I had to eat. I couldn’t risk filming a cooking video on an empty stomach. Hunger and I don’t mix. So I made a quick plate of noodles to fuel myself.
After eating, I was heavily tempted to lay on my bed and rest first but I resisted. I decided to start setting up my filming gadgets. The first thing I looked for was my tripod, I searched for it in my drawers where I usually keep it but I couldn't find it. I searched my memories: did I forget it in the keke na pep while coming back? My heart skipped. I didn't remember putting it in the bag either.
I quickly dialled my mum's number and as soon as she picked, I asked her to check her room; I think I forgot it there. She checked and called back to confirm that it's in her room. I heaved a sigh of relief because I can't bear to cough out another 25k to replace this tripod if I had lost it.
Relieved that my tripod is safe, I smiled mischievously. Finally, a perfect excuse not to film. And now here I am, tucked under my blanket, guilt-free, watching this k-drama I’ve been wanting to see. Life has never felt so perfect 😍
I was showing my seven year old nephew my video gallery. I played most of the videos for him and asked him some questions so as to get a review on how others feel about my videos. Then he asked me a very surprising question, though something I was somewhat aware of
"Aunty why do you like putting sad sad songs in your videos"?
I tried to explain to him that those sounds he called "sad" are actually cinematic sounds, but I didn't know how to explain cinematic to a seven year old😔. He went further to explain more
"Even your voice you where using to talk in the video is so so sad, like someone that want to cry"
I told him that I only love soft spoken voiceovers. I didn't know that my soft spoken voice would come out as sad 😞
